Glad you're here, James! smile.gif I know what you mean about not knowing where to start. I would recommend putting the names of your favorite bands in the "Search" bar (above right) & see what lessons pop up. Also, click the "Guitar Lessons" tab (above left) & then click the genres you are interested in. Ask questions in the forum & be sure to join the video chats! GMC is amazing!

Hey James! Welcome to GMC man! You are going to be in for a treat, as there are literally TONS of lessons on technique here biggrin.gif as the guys suggested, use the SEARCH bar and if it does not sire the desired results in the first try, fill in the menu which will appear in the right side of the screen after your first search and fill in the level you desire and the other details which will narrow your search to the exact results wink.gif

In the mean time, I would suggest you check out the bottom of the homepage and see the video chat schedule there smile.gif my session is happening each Thursday at 8PM London time and we are dealing with modes! I am also hosting Cosmin's Licks Workshop a nice activity in which I am posting a new lick each week - various styles and difficulty levels. You get assignments and detailed feedback on them smile.gif give it a try if you'd like.

see you around the forum and don't shy away from asking us whatever you wish to know smile.gif

Welcome to the site man smile.gif ! It is important to make plan for yourself- what you're interested at the first place, and then slowly start practicing, lesson by lesson. Here you have covered all areas, and also graded lessons, depending on the weight of the same.

Hi Sir, thank you. just want to ask something, i know that mastering an exercise is not an overnight work, but may i ask what is the average day to master any exercise? i practice daily for about 2-3 hours. currently i focus on one exercise for the whole day, for the whole week until i can play it at the right speed. is that ok? or do i have to divide my practice schedule? thanks!

I usually have more than one thing that I'm practising but I try not to have too many things. If you have 2-3 hours I would personally work on more than one exercise. There is always a limit to how much progress you can make in a day at one thing because your body and brain gets tired.. so use the time you have to your advantage and let you body and brain work on different tasks instead of getting burnt out with just one.

That's my approach but if your approach is working for you then there's no need to change it smile.gif

this is noted sir, will try to divide my practice session in to two exercise. yes i do feel getting burnt sometimes, especially when doing the same exercise for straight 2-3hrs. its been two week, i've finally put the whole exercise in my head but at slow speed 50bpm.. for the next days i will try to increase the tempo for that same exercise..hope that i could get it accurately at 100bpm biggrin.gif
