Hi everyone, my confidence has taken a blow. I've just recorded two covers (me on guitar n vocals) and i was really proud of them, as i havn't recorded many before, anyway i took them to my families house to let them have a listen and they didn't say too much about the songs at all, but i could tell by their expressions that they wer'nt too keen. Is their anyone out there that would be kind enough to tell me where i'm going wrong, so i can fix the problem.
Thankyou

This is very good man, don't understand why they don't like it... But something is strange, you did guitar and vocals and that's cool, but the rest? How does it sound so good? Did you do it yourself? How did you record guitars and vocals they sound very good in quality.
ALso guitar playing is great too (maybe need more bending strength if we gonna go to details). Your voice is also very good.

Also Track 2 is great, acoustic and voice recorded excellent.

Can you tell us please how did you record it?

Hi Ivan,

I'm pleased that its you thats replied, i've got a lot of respect for you, your lessons are fantastic! (i'm on the Hendrix and blues solo's lessons at the moment, excellent).
Thanks for the comments, you've helped my confidence, i don't think i'll be taking my songs to my families house again.

I actually payed for the tracks to be recorded at a studio in town.
For the Crossroads track, a friend gave me the backing track with the drums and bass on.
I'm just in the process of forming a band, so i needed to get a couple of songs ready, so that the other band members could relate to the sound that i'm wanting.

Thanks again Ivan

DOn't worry man, the sound is good. The next step is to do some nice author material. If you have any, it would be great to upload some versions so we can hear it and record them also in that studio if you are ready. It will mean a lot to you to have your own songs too.

Sounded fine to me mate smile.gif

I get this kind of blank reaction from my wife sometimes when I play her new songs or things that I`m working on, I dont care much to be honest, I just carry on, but yea it is a confidence basher for sure.

Guitar playing sounds fine. I would say try to sing more from your core, you seem to sing from your head. All in all a very solid effort nonetheless, I wouldn't be discouraged. smile.gif

I like it very much....great takes...one thing thou..pronunciation needs to be corected a bit...In moments I can undrestand what you are saying...but you voice is so cool...pronunciation is the thing that needs to be practise as well....but that is not a big problem...smile.gif

Its very possible that this music is just not their cup of tea so to speak.

Honestly i don't care much for this style of music but you have executed it brillantly. From a musician standpoint i can see the skill in this. Some times pure listeners don't have the objectivity that a musician does.

All in all i think it sounds great!

Daniel
