Just about a while ago, i was getting some stuff that i needed for school next door at some appartments, and when i was leaving there was a guy at the door and he said (he pays the rent to my dad) "Hey, are you the guy who plays guitar?" (I play with my window open so im sure the neighboors can hear me tongue.gif ), so i said "Yes". And he said, "so you were the one who was playing Canon by Pachelbel yesterday?" (ive been learning canon rock recently) and i said "Yes". He added, "you got talent kid, you're really good, i listened to the violins and the cello and later you came in with the guitar and played around, i couldn't believe it, i recognized the tune right away".

We later started talking about Music, Jazz, Classical music, guitar, and alot of stuff. He knows alot about music, and he said that he played the guitar as well. I mentioned him about Berklee and me wanting to go there after graduating. And we talked about that, but the one thing that made this experience awesome, was when he said:

"Ill tell you an advice: Go after your dreams", the one thing i tell myself everyday, had been said to me just about 20 mins ago, it gave me even more desire to go to Berklee and live from Music.

So thats my experience folks, this gave me alot of motivation to practice, so im grabbing my axe right now!

So, have you had an experience like this?

Cool!! That sounds great. Dude, meeting people that are interested in music is the most fun thing I can think of. There is this local jazz guitarist I meet once in a while, it's so awesome to talk with him. I learn alot about gear etc. just by chatting with him.
Sounds like you had fun.

Yes, yes, yes, YES! That's what that local jazz guitarist told me. "Don't let anyone tell you what to do. If you want to live by playing music, then do it". He also did what I'm doing now, played all day, every day. Now he lives by music and gigs around in Europe and have a few albums. I'm hoping to do the same one day, and I hope you get into Berklee!! Good luck.

That's a cool story man!

Unfortunately, dream is all fine but once you find yourself on the road without any money and no house - the "i am hungry" feeling kills your dream and you're only thinking about your stomach.

I know what my dream is but the whole week now i was only working on programming/web-design for my university as the job gives you the money to live and dream doesn't sad.gif so my guitar was collecting dust and i didn't practice at all.

So before pursuing the dream i want to have something to live from. I was thinking a lot and came to a conclusion that i will be fine even if i don't make it as professional guitar player and leave guitar as my hobby.

I always wanted to go to GIT in London but i think the only chance i have to go there is to work for a couple of years in IT, get the money, and alter go there - it's 10,000$ per year and nothing now can give me the money to study there so here is one of dream's problems smile.gif

Good luck with Berklee m8!

I made sure I got a good Engineering degree from uni and am now focussing a lot more on mny music playing knowing if I fail and can't make my dreams reality then I have something to fall back on. I agree fully with Pavel. Music can't pay the bills unfortunately and neither can your dreams.

I think Pavels made some great points there. As long as you can support yourself in the "real world" you guitar dreams can still become a reality smile.gif

I love these experiences, I get them alot also, nothing feels better.
I also planned on going to Berklee and it totally seemed possibly...up until graduation, and you start to realize the realities of life, and that BERKLEE IS RIDICULOUSLY expensive.
so....now, I'm planning GIT because I know several of the tutors from past musical escapades, and I know a mate who went there.
Anyway, GIT is less expensive than Berklee....but London, on the other hand.

Yeah, dude, follow your dreams, cause you'll regret it if you don't....but plan realistically also. biggrin.gif
Good Luck with Berklee!

Well, if you wanna do the music as a living - do it, by all means. For me it is important to stay i school and finish my masters degree so I can have a steady job with social and ability to earn more progress in my carrier. And don't get me wrong - I DO love guitar more that anything else, but.. the situation in my country for musicians....not so good and very unstable - believe me. If I lived in USA or somewhere it would be different, there you have the market, the people to meet, the ability to succeed big. I don't want a life on the road and constantly worrying about my incomes HERE. So, I'll finish school and later on - who knows. Maybe I become musician, maybe not, but school is the most important thing in life for sure. I can always do recordings, play the guitar and do some jobs related to music aside, and this is great, because not a lotta people have two options, and when I think I've created a music option literally myself with no school, really tells how much I love guitar.
So go after your dreams m8, if it is Berkley, go there, but KNOW where you are going, talk to people, be wise, and make wise desicions.

Yeah, i was planning on finishing a career here at my country before leaving, thats what will probably happen i think. Ill always practice my ass off even when studying here. Yeah, Berklee is so expensive... thats why im considering other colleges but i need to do more research on that.

Thanks for the input on Dreams and Reality, it is very true and thats why i want to have a backup plan, you should always have one.

Thanks,

any more experiences? biggrin.gif

i only every had two people ever telling me to not give up and keep making music, this college guy who my dad swapsied guitars with and we went over to his student house, he said "keep on playing man, dnt quit" which motivated me somehow... and um this guy that i met when i was walking along a path, his dog started jumping on me, then we had a short greet and he soon revealed that he went to my school a few years back (i was wearin school uniform) and then something happened and we eneded up talking bout music, and the conversation finished with "keep on doing music, dont give up just coz of other peoples negative opinions or whatnot" which was also quite motivational for some reason =/ anyhow yeah. keep on playing and chase your wildest dreams wink.gif
