Alright I bought an M-Audio Fast Track USB recording interface, and I finally got to the point where I can record, but its only in a clean channel and when I add a JS or VST it does little or sounds like garbage. I need to know how to get an effect in for heavy distortion at the moment but I'm sure I will use many more to come.
NOTE: I am using Reaper.
EDIT: Chours, Delay, Reverb ect. work just not any form of Overdrive/Distortion do.

You plug your guitar in via a standard guitar cable (1/4 in.) and it then connects through a USB cable.

yeah i installed it and everything and i installed reaper too but how do i get it to record anything

First in Reaper click options>preferences it will say audio on the sidebar with device underneath it click it. Then it will have a drop down bar that says "Audio System" next to it click it and select ASIO then underneath change the ASIO driver to M-Audio fast track and leave the rest alone. Right click here (refer to pic) Attached Image and put insert new track. Click on the "R" and a bar will drop down, strum and see if the bar jumps, if not right click on the bar and highlight mono input and click on the opposite one. Now click the record button on the bottom (with the circle) and it should record. NOTE: to listen you have to unplug the adapter and where you selected ASIO put it to Wave out, at least I do.

I figured that I wasted that many hours figuring it out why should others have to suffer too. laugh.gif

P.S. Are you recording strait from your guitar or are you running it through your amp or a pre-amp? It sounds horrid for me if I run it through my amp first.
