Using The Pinky In Higher Frets

Apr 22 2008, 09:43 PM	Learning Roadie Posts: 803 Joined: 13-January 08 From: Germany	Hello, just want to know, If am the only one who has problems using the pinky in higher frets (above 12.) on the E and A string. I use my pinky a lot, but on the E and A string in higher frets it is very hard for me to push down the string on the neck. I can do it, but only slow and it does not feel the way it does on the other strings and frets, perhaps this sound a bit strange. I prefer using my other fingers in this region, due to the low distance between frets it is not absolutely necessary, but would be nice of course if I could use all my fingers there, maybe I just need more practise? best regards, Skalde You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick. For example, to play --17-19-20-- they use the index finger for the 17th fret, the middle finger for the 19th fret and the ring finger for the 20th fret. Personally, I use the pinky finger a lot but I started to use the above fingering for some licks like this E\|\|--------------10--------------\|\| B\|\|------------------------------\|\| G\|\|--10--12--13------13--12--10--\|\| D\|\|------------------------------\|\| A\|\|------------------------------\|\| E\|\|------------------------------\|\| because I found that finger comfortable too. This guy proved that a person can look goofy and still have significant success in a rock band. Rick Nielsen, one of the most underrated guitarists in history. The guy has 2000 guitars. And besides that, a hot Swedish wife. I consider those items measures of success. I use my pinkie, top of the neck, Les Paul. You will never be one with the Tao if you don't use your pinkie.
