the odds of a guy with 5,000 sales, and a 99.6% positive rate, who clearly makes his living here selling high priced collectors items, selling a bogus guitar are just about zero. he would be an expert and in a position to know it is authentic, and not risk his rep on one sale.

he could be on retreat with some swami in the backwoods of India, and his account hijacked, but that is not real probable.

he is not saying a lot for a reason. assumes the buyer has the intelligence of your average spider monkey, and would make contact for specifics, you put as little into writing as possible.

probably just testing the waters. he does not have to sell it to the highest bidder, that is his option.

the reissues are actually better guitars than the originals, and much cheaper. you would only buy this to hang on your wall or as a speculative investment.

edit: of course with a guy like this, you would make some serious contact, and certainly would not ship it in the normal fashion. probably you would want to fly in and pick it up. but whatever, I highly assume this is a dealer running an ebay site on the side, mostly selling parts. you would just make sure he is an established dealer. of course you need to be careful with any high priced purchase from a dealer. but nobody wants to go to prison, fraud at this level would land you in the big house. maybe not so bad a place if you are a drug dealer or homicidal maniac, or a white NAZI type. You could probably find your social group then. But most for most people, not a fun place in America.

Differnet pups on this one.

The first models of the Les Paul Custom in black were produced in 1954. In 1957 they changed the pickups from two single coils to 3 humbuckers. So if this one is from 1956 and all parts are original then i'm sure it has some high collector value ..

it does, and right, humbuckers did not appear until 57. however, the high value is 59 and 60 I think. 59 mostly. 50 grand for a 59 would not surprise me, I think they can go for more than that.
