Hi Phil, good job with this lesson.
I checked again your previous take and my comments and I can say that this new version is a new step forward in order to master this lesson. Your timing is slowly getting better, but it needs more work to sound tighter. You tend to play notes before the beat, and the problem is still mostly in the second half. The picking directions now are closer to the ones used by Bear but there are still some differences. However the main difference is the accentuation of some notes that makes the original lesson more aggressive. I recommend you to practice playing this one over the original lesson, and try to emulate both rhythm and dynamics used in the original lessons. Also try to make the vibrato more consistent. Closing your eyes while you practice is a good trick to put all your concentration on both things. Keep on the hard work!

I think that you can get this lesson perfect, its just that you indeed seem to be under REC button influence. This happens to everyone - timing goes to boost mode and the player is rushing. It is famous that drummers when they record or play live tend to rush the beat.
Let's try to identify specific points to work on to get the timing under control: First part of the lesson (0:00-0:21) Here you would tend to play ahead of the beat. This is usually considered "anti beat" in most genres of music, and playing on top of the beat or just slightly behind it works better. How to hear this in the REC video? Listen closely to the kick drum in the backing track. Its the biggest drum of the drum kit and sounds deepest (what is kick drum : link). Once you hear it, notice how you'd play notes just ahead of it, instead at the exact same time (or slightly behind it). As an exercise, try to sync up notes with are played when the kick drum is playing to be at the exact same time. This will help you keep time and have the other notes you play in the licks in time as well. Please note that the beat in the lesson is not the easiest one when it comes to timing, so you did a good job there. Also, it combines staccato notes for added difficulty  Good thing is - you are learning both a guitar scale and practicing timing and how to make the scale musical at the same time by breaking it down in licks which combine different note values to form phrases.
