that is one bad-a#$ riff. I love it. The only thing I don't like is it's too short! I know you need to keep it short because you have to mix a-lot of people into a single mix-down, but I'd love to see a collab like this one where it's a full song.

It's not as good as Superizes, though...

Yeah I like a lot this sound and the idea for the collab is cool. But I do not know how to compose and I do not play still very well. If I try to compose a melody for this collab, I shall need far too much time. I am going to try but without guaranteed result or if, in the future, this collaboration remains open, I'll upload my sound

Ok I'll do my best then ^^ I'm in, from now on I work on Minor Scales and Harmonic because I like harmonic scale ^^
I must buy a USB type B to record myself with my new Gear =)

@supersize - nice solo! @jitty, sounds to me like you record directly through some distortion into your soundcard, do you have anything that simulates an amp? If you are handyman:) PM and I can help you build very simple Marshall cab sim that sounds great, it will bring your dirt tone into sonic heaven!
Posted by: Christophe Oct 21 2010, 08:37 AM
Help please !
Is this a full A Minor Scale ?
So I can play the whole notes written ?
If it's not the case, please gimme an another picture ! Thanks a lot

Hey Emir, I'm actually using a POD XT live, I downloaded Marcus Lavendell's tone from GMC and I was using that. Should I turn down the gain or volume or something, does it sound too distorted?
Posted by: emirb Oct 21 2010, 12:16 PM
hi Jitty, I guess the dirt in the tone is just fine, but was thinking if there you can fiddle with direct out settings/amp sim. It seems that you get some treble freq out with tend to sound harsh. But what is harsh to me someone else might like so this is just my opinion, I'm definitely not judging! Pod XT is certainly capable of producing any kind of tone so you can probably test around the amp sim section. If you open your recorded solo track in some audio editor (sound forge, cool edit etc.) and cut/filter out everything above 4 KHz - listen to that and check it out if you like it more or maybe not. Basically you don't get higher frequencies from amp speaker, but distortion can 'produce' higher order harmonics (that are even more multiplied proportional to the gain) that to me sounds harsh.
maybe you can test a bit and get back with some impressions?
@supersize, this site recomendation is invaluable! exactly what I've needed and been too lazy to find on my own:)

@ Jitty: man, great skills dude!!! just one thing, you have to tune your guitar one step down! you play the whole solo in another tuning. so, you can tune your guitar as I mentioned in the main post, or, in case you cannot tune your guitar to one step down, you should play all the solo one fret back. let me know if you need any help on this.

I stink at improvising solos. Don't expect a heck of a performance. I tried several times to get this right. I basically had to write the solo and still messed up somewhat.
You guys rock! I guess I'm just a riffer and not a soloer.
TheFireball goes up in flames!!
Had to turn down the quality so the flames would track better - and unfortunately you can't turn down the intensity.

with the exception of that last slurred note, your solo was spot on. I mean it was tasteful and aggressive and fit the backing track perfect. Great job.

Posted by: thefireball Nov 7 2010, 07:53 PM
Thanks guys! I used my Dell Webcam Central. It's the program that came with my computer to make my webcam work. It has a whole lot of visual and audio effects. Yeah, that last slurred note really bothered me, but I didn't feel like re-recording it after about 20 takes.

No problem. It will be on the Effects Tab. Click Video Effects (the movie reel with a lightning bolt through it). You'll see drop down list that will by default probably say 'Scenes'. You'll want to click that and change it to filters. It will be the second effect. That's how it looks on my computer. Have fun!

Hi folks
I joined the community one week before, found last Fri this collab and want to say this way “hallo” to everybody.
After listening the BT, shot a solo and then stripped it down to the min in order to be able to play it again, then played the solo for 10 times in a row and cut a take, basically one hour job. I have not polished the track, nor adjusted the sound to match. If I submitted in time and you will consider it ok form a complexity, play and technical point of view, I’m happy to contribute.

I'm so glad to hear that man you will learn for sure man! the only thing you need is: to want it! think about this: you are now 42, and may you need... let's say 3 years to reach a proper level to play everything you hear in your head. so, you can work very hard on your playing during these years, and then when you are 45 will receive the prize! or just say "it's too late to learn" and these 3 years will pass anyway. so, it's your choice, your creation. in 3 years you could be mastering an instrument or not, but time will pass anyway!
hope this will encourage you

The sad thing is, at the moment I am unable to record anything, so I'm just going to have to drop out of this here collab. However, I will without doubt take part in future collaborations!
