GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ How Many Variations Of A Power Chord Can You Come Up With?

Power chords are simple: a root and a fifth, thats it. Its such a simple device, yet the entirety of metal relies on it. So there are definitely variations on how it is played on the guitar, instead of the typical x24xxxx (B power chord) and so on.
So how many can you come up with? I'll get the ball rolling with these few:

Another E5 variation. You can move this shape anywhere on the neck ( take off the open E for anything other than an E chord ) prviding it starts on the A string.

Check out Muris's "Advanced Power Chords" lesson. ...lots of killer shapes used in there.
+1 for Ben's 0,2,2,4,5 shape!
You can also get that same basic shape on strings 1 thru 4...

Yeah thats definitely a beefy way to play a power chord. I will check out Muris' lesson

When I first started coming here 3 years ago or so that is one of the first lessons I attempted. Probably not a good idea since I was a beginner. Never did get it but it is one of my favorites.
