Hi Everyone, biggrin.gif

My name is Tom and I'm excited to be a new member of GMC. I think it will be a very fun and challenging relationship.

I'm a young 41 years old. rolleyes.gif I've been married 15 years and have two kids, a daughter 14 and a son 12. I met my wife when I was 19 playing in a 80's hair metal band. However, in the world of North Dakota rock and roll nothing seems to last forever unless you marry a groupie, which I did.

I started playing the guitar when I was 13 and eventually got good enough that one of the local music stores wanted me to teach. This I did and I found that teaching really made me a much better guitar player. However, after I left my band I traded in my guitar (figuratively) for a camera and college. My guitar playing became less and less with each passing year as I grew into a business, marriage and raising my kids.

I still had a little Crate practice amp and my old trusty Charvel and I would noodle every now and again but my playing was always rusty and quite disappointing so back into the case went my guitar. mad.gif

Well the good news is about 4 years ago I replaced my little 15 watt Crate and bought a used Line 6 Spider. This amp brought back my interest and I've been playing steady again ever since.

Recently I've been on a equipment acquisition mission. I've been trying to find my old Tone (refering back to my 80's band days). I've went from trying different Modeling amps to even trying the Line 6 Spider Valve 2x12 Bogner amp to different Mesa Boogies. However, nothing could quite get me that Old Marshall JCM 800 sound I was looking for. That's what I played during my band years. I'm happy to say because of Ebay I'm now getting that Wonderful Marshall Crunch again. Practicing has become so much fun I decided I really needed to find a good source for information. Knowing most of the local guitar teachers I knew I needed to explore more options.

Thank You GMC for popping up in a Google search!! laugh.gif What I found was exactly what I was looking for. The instructors, format, and volume of different styles will keep me on my toes and I'm sure not going to get bored. I can't wait to get serious about my playing again. Thanks in advance for what I'm about to learn and for making this such a great web site.

Here's a list of my equipment if anyone is interested. If anyone has any questions on any of it I'd be more than happy to help. tongue.gif

Yeah, I really like it! I had a standard for awhile but the thing started to hurt my back. sad.gif Still has that thick Les Paul sound but feels like your holding a Strat. I like the Ebony fret board better than the rosewood also.

I hope so, I played a fun gig with a couple of old mates and it was really fun. Only thing is there was a whole lot less hair and a bit more weight.. laugh.gif I'll work on the interface
