For a very long time I've been quite fascinated with the Japanese culture and their music. I've seen quite a few bands in Japan that really know how to rock yet incorporate aspects of their native instruments into their music that create a beautiful blend!

Here's a video of Yoshida Brothers. In my opinion they've done an outstanding job at this sort of fusion between rock and native japanese instruments! Check it out and lemme know what you think! And also if you have anything similar please do share biggrin.gif

That was quite awesome, throw in some mongolian throat singing and you've got native-asian-death metal!
I don't know anything similar, but I'm a huge fan of X Japan and have been the past nine years! (But only the 80's 90s era, I'm not very amused with their comeback dry.gif ) But you should check them out if you haven't already. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7ycbtU3rj4 biggrin.gif

How hard do you guys think the Shamisen would be compared to guitars?

I never played one but basing on those videos it seems that the difficulty is similar...
