My 8 cats have the world record for how many times they can vomit on my floors without me killing any of them in anger.

I put these kinds of records on the same artistic level as that.

His name is Tiago Della Vega.

There was some time ago a video of this brazilian guy called 38nps (38 notes per second)... and he really pick the 38 notes.

Here his myspace:

He is insanelly fast!

I think you should apologize to the robots of the world for that.

Oh come on guys, it wasn't so bad! His picking is is what's amazing, not the song itself! I know it wasn't that great musically but he is a legitimate guitarist, and an amazing one at that. This was just his attempt at a speed-picking record. I, for one, was pretty impressed! Course I'm not much of a guitarist, or judge, but it looks pretty hard to me! wink.gif

If you take a look at his myspace profile, you will find some of his musics.

IMO he is a very good guitarrist.

I dont know why people use to not like things like this. The guy is fast and accurate. Period.

(This reminds me how bad people use to judge DragonForce live performances... )

he sucked at 170. after that, he just looked more and more silly. just call me old fashioned, but actually fretting and articulating notes is a big thing to me, rather than your left hand just sort of sliding around on the fret board while you tremolo pick.

Here's another video of the fastest part, shot by someone in the audience.
Strangely it sounds very different.

Hmmm.. crazy.. thats one sick bumblebee theme in fast-forward tongue.gif I think he wears a pick out in half an hour or something happy.gif

Posted by: Ivan Milenkovic Jul 28 2008, 11:41 AM

there is actually something really pathetic in this one sad.gif

Posted by: rockztar Jul 28 2008, 11:49 AM

dont thinks is fake... buts as ivan said pathetic

Posted by: Koopid Jul 28 2008, 12:31 PM

why is it patethic? It is a skill. He is good at it, the best in the world?. who cares if it is not exactly what you prefer as music. He is the best, or one of the best, in the world at something, I see nothing patethic about that...

the fact that he speedpicks faster than anyone else doesnt make his musical abilities in other areas worse does it?

Musically it is, in my opinion, crap. But that video was not about the actual music now was it?

Posted by: Caelumamittendum Jul 28 2008, 12:53 PM

Have seen this before, and we had a long discussion on Petrucciforum about whether it was fake or not. It turned out some of it was fake. I'll see if I can find the conclusion:

QUOTE
As the Yngtchster said, i did actually debunk this last week, but got caught up in so many other things before posting my findings, hehe.

I've said ever since he (Tiago Della Vega) emerged on the net, that he fingers waaay more notes than he actually picks..... in fact he barely even 'fingers' notes, but more like just slides about them.

Just watch this clip of the 320bpm section that i've slowed to quarter speed :

http://www.speedyshare.com/153835754.html

Watch it a few times, forcussing on his picking hand, then his fingering hand. Watching it at this speed it becomes pretty obvious his pick strokes are way slower than his fingered notes. (On top of that, his fretting hand positions/direction doesn't even appear to match up to the audio)

Just to prove it, here's exactly 1 second of video from that 320bpm section :
http://www.speedyshare.com/561931200.html

Now watch that 1 second clip at quarter speed :
http://www.speedyshare.com/210948179.html

I can tell you that as far as audio is concerned, there are 20 notes that ring out in that 1 second clip. However, watch the clip with the sound turned off, and you'll see that he only just makes 15 pick strokes in the same time frame. So yes, he only manages 15 pick strokes for every 20 notes that ring out. In other words, he is only actually picking 3/4 of the notes that he claims to be doing, in a (supposedly) 'Alternate Picking' World Record.

So, after all the fancy build up, internet videos, and stage show he put on for the "world record" attempt, he is only actually picking at barely 15 nps.

Make your own mind up (if you haven't already).

QUOTE
Heh, just got the slowed-down video from Willjay, that puts this whole thing to rest. He cut one second out of the 320 BPM vid, and slowed it down to quarter speed. Listening to it, you'll hear 20 notes, but if you turn the sound off and watch his picking hand... HE ONLY PICKS 15 TIMES.

So that's 20 notes, but only 15 pick strokes.

And of course, the notes you hear don't match with the fretting hand positions.

He's fast.. But I hope for his sake that he doesen't only play fast.
