Tried my hand at making some customized wooden picks to see if I could get closer to that perfect tone/control formula.
Was I successful? You decide.....

Song sounds pretty good! I like it! And those picks you made look very interesting! ) Maybe you could record a comparison audio playing different regular and those custom made wooden picks.

BTW: What is the gauge of them? They look pretty wide.

Thickness, not to be confused with width.... I start with 1/8" wooden planks and cut to shape then sand them to fine tune them with sanding and polishing.

I've been cutting a thumb dimple and finger groove in all the newer ones. Gives me even MORE control over the pick.

What I've found, to my surprise, is that the same picks may not be good on all of my guitars. String gauge, action, sensitivity and other characteristics of each of my guitars will determine the pick that gets used.
The picks displayed work great on my Paul and Gibby ES 150- DC as both have very hot pups and are extremely responsive.

For my Gibby L5, its a jazz box and like smaller picks way better.

My acoustics love the blunt tips for strumming chords....but extremely pointy picks for lead work or arpeggios.

I've always known that the Bow is extremely important for control and tone on the violin.
We as guitar players always overlook this connection with the guitar.
That is what got me started down this path. And a very interesting and fun path it has been.
