Sep 4 2007, 10:59 AM	GMC:er Posts: 1.311 Joined: 26-February 07 From: Tennessee , USA	Hey Im not very educated in the theory myself but i can tell you this,it's not something you can just pick up in a day.I recommend going to Andrew's theory lessons and starting on page one.If you really want to understand it you wil have to put lots of work into it.As for how to use them in your own music,it basically gives you extra knowledge to know what your going to play before you play it.Like if you understand scales and theory you can listen to a song and n your head know exactly what key and scale you will want to play before you ever even pickup the guitar.So basically my idea of theory is like a mechanic going to work with all the right tools,being prepaired . There are tons of scales. Scales have a root note. The scale's name is named after its root note. Arpeggios: Arpeggios are notes from a chord, in other words, a broken down chord. Instead of strumming the chord, you can play some of its notes and that is an arpeggio. Chord Progression: I actually never use this word, but i assume that i means all the chords used in a specific song, the order of the chords and were they are played.
