I have a couple different that mostly are laying around, never was impressed with neither Boss' nor Digitech's but the Hughes & Kettner Warp factor sounds surprisingly good for a pedal. And I don't play drop tuning which it's claimed to do best and still I'm happy.
I have the HT-5 head and I'm happy with it's distortion, it's the same as in the dual channel pedal, which I think is the same as in their distortion pedal. The HT Dist-X is a step up the ladder in angry distortion. Also I think the Marshall dist pedals sound kind of nice. Both the 80's Guvnor but also the newer one and the Jackhammer (is it called?) which has a more modern dist. -------------------- My bands homepage

Check out brian wamplers pedals, i have the pinnacle which is nice but the triple wreak pedal is a thinly veiled nod to the triple rec sound, check em out mate!

What amp do you have? Is it a tube amp? If it is, perhaps it may be wise to get a booster stomp, because what you get when overdriving the tubes can never be compared with small cheap diodes that clip the signal.
On the other hand, if your amp is a good clean amp with good headroom, getting a good distortion stomp like Fulltone OCD, or Tonebone Classic may be wise. Another thing to consider is that EH is a fuzz pedal. I keep reading that (most?) fuzz pedals tend to get a little funny with humbuckers. I've seen a few that have a specific switch to account for the difference in pickups and I'm not sure if the EH metal muff does that. I have to wonder if maybe you'd also want to make sure you're getting either tube OD or distortion and NOT fuzz in whatever new pedal you try.
