hey guys,
some of you may know, I've been working on an instrumental concept album, which has to do with a dream I once had. It is greatly inspired by Dream Theaters "Scenes from a Memory" but they will sound nothing alike.
The idea here is I want to tell a story with my guitar, I dont want to work so much on the "Shred" and "noodling" (although there will be plenty of it) but I want to work on making memorable melodies and harmonies. Right now Ive been using cheap free VSTs but next week I will go pick up a more professional work station for this now that it is becoming serious. I have been working on recording the first song for 2 weeks now, getting everything right, and should be done fairly soon so I can share it with you guys.
this is the current track list i have planed:
"Once Upon a Dream,"
"There was a Kingdom,"
"Inside the Castle is Where She Laid,"
"Corrupted by Temptation and Desire,"
"The Kingdom Turned to Ruins: The Nightmare Suite,"
"Salvation: "pt. 1: Redemption," "Pt 2: Revelation," "Pt 3: Reunion,"
"Deja Vu"
the reason why I am sharing this is because I dont think any of this could have possible, the inspiration nor the knowledge, with out being part of this community. The collabs I have done especially helped me a lot, the one I think i learned from the most and will implementing the most, was Pedjas "Chord tone" collab where we could only solo using arpeggios and chord tone notes. This concept allowed me to create some really cool ideas.
so my advice to people looking for inspiration and looking to improve their soloing or playing concepts, play in as many collabs as you can, and learn your scales and chords.
technique is a heck of a lot easier when you know where your fingers a going!
