could have done with one of those when i was a kid, would have saved hours of sunday afternoons traipsing round after my dad dodging injury/death via a combination of tractor, chainsaw and axe.

Me too, except sometimes we'd borrow a splitter. It only did 1 chunk at a time though, not whole logs.
