---------------UPDATE-------------
OK, I started this thread but then relised that I have absolutly no time to create such a massive guide as there is so much to do with the POD XT/X3

From now on I will create a new Q&A thread about the POD XT/X3 as there is quite alot of things people ask.

LINK TO Q&A: POD XT/X3 Q&A

Ahoy hoy and welcome to the Guitarists Guide To The POD XT Live.

This guide will be updated over a period of time since there is a massive amount of things to be wrote about.

Now, first of all, let's get the introduction done first... It's a good place to start.

--------------------------INTRODUCTION---------------------------------

Who is this guide for?
This guide is here to help you find out what the POD XT Live can really do, If you're thinking about buying a POD or if you just cant be bothered to read that pretty thick manual then this is the place for you.
Also, im guessing that most of this information will be usefull for those with the POD XT (not the Live version)
This guide will also be updated for the POD X3 Live.

Who this guide is NOT for.
Anyone wanting information about the PocketPOD, POD 2.0 or any other type of POD that isnt the POD XT or POD XT Live.

Why are you making this guide?
I'm making thing guide because i'm bored.

...aaaaand to help out people using my experience with the POD XT Live

What is a POD XT Live?
A POD XT Live is a multi effects pedal, an amp modeller and pretty much anything but your kitchen sink.
The POD XT and POD XT Live are both pretty much the same, however the POD XT Live includes a floorboard to allow easy change of effects/models/etc aswell as an included expression pedal... thats right... WAHWAH!!!!!! (the expression pedal can also control other things but more on that later)

--------------------CONTENTS---------------------

[1a] - MODELS
[1b] - AMP MODELS
[1c] - CABINET MODELS
[1d] - EFFECT MODELS

------------------[1a]The Models--------------------

Ok, the models are what make the POD XT such a great machine.
The models in the POD XT are "simulations" of amplifiers. Line6 have tried to recreate the sound of many different amplifiers, cabinets and effects and in my opinion, have succeded.

You can choose to simulate any setup you like (e.g. Marshal 1968 Jump Channel going through a 4x12 Mesa/Boogie cabinet along with a Tubescreamer, Small Room Reverb and a little Stereo Chorus. along with the option of a volume pedal and a Vetta Wah)

Below i have listed all of the amp models, cabinet models and effect models that come as standard with the POD XT Live.

Are you including the model pack (that you download from the net) or the effects that come with it?

I dont intend on buying any other effects pedal or model packs, will this pedal do for a hi gain metal sound? (My friend refunded his cause he 'claims' he had a POD XTL and it did not suit the metal unless you buy the metal pack, so he refunded his)

the POD XT has many amp settings that will suit metal. even without the metal pack.
before i bought the metal pack i was using the Dual rectifier setting or the JCM2000.

all of the packs above are the things that come WITH the POD XTL.

I will add a list of addon packs/etc when i next update the guide. this guide will end up being quite a large guide however so it will take some time to get through everything.

thanks

I have a question here.. I've owned a PodXTL for just over a year, however I cant figure out how to "kick start" the wah. I've heard that there is a way to just switch on wah by stomping on the expression without going into the settings. Is that correct or was I misinformed? hehe

Yeah, that's right !!! it's a very good idea to write this guide. I'm thinking in writing some multiefects guides, but I haven't got any time and I prefer write about the recording programs biggrin.gif

Its like a regular wah - you have to lean your body weight on the pedal when it is fully down (i.e. flat), lean on the top half and it will click in.

let's jus precise that the pedalboard can be a complement to a Pod bean....

(so you have buttons for hands and pedal for feet while you keep stand up) wink.gif

I didn't know that there were this pedalboard. Is it possible to control POD devices via it? Is it possible to control Toneport maybe?

I appreciate a lot this solution Ivan,
I control all the system with the guitarport.... (or with the bean if you don't have any PC)
so you never need to bend down down

I have to precise that you just have a usb connection and no power supply for the pedal board
