Graphite Necks?

They took about a year to build so I called steinberger when I had about 6 months of school left so I could order one and it would be ready shortly after I graduated. I was told they didn't make the GS model any more, DOH!!! So I bought an Ibanez and had moses graphite send me a neck and made my own GS model. I use an LSR roller nut and steinberger locking tuners in conjunction with the Ibanez ZR trem and it gives great results as far as tuning stability. So to answer your question Ivan, I think the graphite necks sound and play great but 1) I am biased towards graphite necks and 2) my ears are so used to hearing them I don't know if I could tell how they sound compared to a wood neck. I would love to give Muris one of my guitars and let him see what he thinks of it. Not only the sound but the playability of it as well. I'll bet both you and Muris would love it!! It is easy to have piezo on without realising this and you don't want piezo on when playing rock and metal riffs. But they don't sound metallic to me when set up normally. As for graphite necks, it's too bad I don't get the chance to try one. I would like to hear how it sounds on the same setup I'm using my guitar. I have a maple/satin finish, so getting around the neck is fast and precise, and even without that, it is a matter of habit and practice, but sound is something different. You still might have to have the frets leveled and a set up done to it but you would most liklely have to have that done on any custom neck. You do have to drill holes and install the inserts but it is very simple and if you send the guitar body that you want to use it on to Moses they will install it for you for a fee.
