I've always been fascinated of blues players - especially singers. They have a lot of dynamics and little detailes in their melodies that of course got reproduced on other instruments as well.
Turning songs into instrumental pieces is a common thing, but I believe you can learn a lot about phrasing (using space and less notes) imitating singers' lines.

What modern songs do you find really appealing and exciting to your ears and worthy for a fun and productive imitation? biggrin.gif

I find these ones (and a lot more) full of great ideas smile.gif

Heh! Bro, I do this all the time smile.gif The human voice is basically the most expressive instrument out there. Your guitar playing skills will reach incredible heights if you imitate the human voice. If I were to pick up a song I like to do that with right now, it would be.... this one:

Nice song bro

I remembered this band that has an vocalist witch imitates an saxophone improvisation, he is very complex, of course if you like jazz wink.gif
If you know your instrument well, this happens if you practice a lot smile.gif

the saxophone is one of the most expressive instruments ever! Great choice smile.gif I also did a v-chat session on sax imitation. If some of the guys would like to dive a bit deeper in the idea, here's the thread: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...st&p=663229
