Depends on the weight of the package and service used I guess. I've used DHL for my shipments most of the time, they do a great job, package arrives fast, it is a bit pricey but it's worth it specially with some important stuff.

hmmm I would take it as an extra luggage...I guess its a better option then shipping since there can be some import taxes etc and if you take a guitar with you on a plane you can sort it out on the spot and possibly not pay anything.

Watch out for customs tax and VAT.
The difficulty for the customs staff is to know if you bought it in the US or shipped it back and forth. They are used to anonymous packages (i.e no guitarshop brand on the parcel), packages marked "value less than 20 USD" and explanations such as "no it's my old guitar, VAT is already payed in my home country". Perhaps adding the original reciept with the documents showing the serial number could work as proof enough. -------------------- My bands homepage
