I am having trouble with the outside chord, Pedja. I want to do something special on it every time, but after it repeats a few times I lose track on the counting.

Any tip?

I am not sure what you mean by loosing track on counting ?
Its 4 beats long every time. You can use E Altered scale which is 7th mode of F melodic minor mode. You can also use E7 arpeggio, or G minor pentatonic even.

Let me know if you need anything !

I mean that I get lost on which chord I am currently on!
My ear doesn't tell me which one it is, not developed enough.

And counting every single chord really kills my improv...

That must be tough man. It will come with experience and practice but there is one thing I suggest.

This chord progression has 3 chords really. First one is TONIC which is A minor, second is D minor with is SUB DOMINANT function (or little tension if you will) and last one is E7(#9) which is DOMINANT function and it provides most tension.

If you think about that when making your melodies it should be lot easier.
Still, I think you must always know where you are, count to four, subdivide in your mind quarters eights sixteens. Work on it, its essential to soloing wink.gif

This is awful, and I've been hoping that I would find some time to do it, but it's obvious to me that I don't have the time, I have some applications to send in (one of them to a musical school) and I'm studying hard for two exams right now, so I'm really sorry but I can't submit my take in time, so take me off the list. sad.gif
