Watch his picking hand when it shows it. It looks even up closer. Like he isnt even touching the strings. Its so lightly picked. That youc ant hear it. Until he plays it AMAINGLY fast you can hear him pick it, but then again when you see it happeneing. It looks like hes not even touching the strings!!
Amazing!!
I think Shawn Lane is an amazing playing for his technique, or his speed, and his overall skill with no guitar lessons in his life, and i think everybody will agree with me on that!!
But sometimes i feel as if when im listening to him that he has no feeling, but then I just contridict myself, and feel something there. His playing style really isnt all that good to me. I believe it is an amazing style he has. Because he mixes everything into his playing. which makes him very, very original, but still not my kind of style to just listen to whenever.
But how much emotion do you think he really puts into his playing??
Anybody who is that good at their instrument has a lot of emotion in their playing. Blues players play with emotion and so do shredders and anyone in between. Certain styles tend to sound more emotional than others. Blues is usually played with a lot of bends and drawn out notes and slower tempos which sounds more emotional. This does not mean someone who plays fast does not put emotion into their playing. It is just a different style.
I would say most guitarists play with emotion, famous or not, granted, there are some people whp pick up the instrument for the wrong reasons, i say 90% of guitarists play with emotion, just not all people hear or feel it.
Does Shawn Lane need any description? - two words to describe him: Shawn Lane
^True
Id give major props to any instructor to pull of a " In the Style of " Shawn Lane lesson. His playing is simply amazing and you know hes good when Rusty Cooley Says that Shawn Lane makes him quote " speechless"

Shawn was the greatest ever. Quite simple. End of story. And I'm not just talking about his technique - he played with insane amounts of emotion, perfect touch, interesting phrasing, and everything else you could ask for.

Fine Examples of Shawns Playing Instrumental Case. I do believe that people dont give Shawn enough created, when created is due.

Watermelon in Easter Hay is a great song
Epilouge For Lisa is Brilliance!
The first time I saw Shawn Lane, i thought the only thing he can is shredding around the whloe guitar.
But than I heard some songs of him and I was just blown away.
That feeling unbelievable.
The notes he choses are just perfect.
He is playing fast when it fits to the rest of the song and he plays slowly if it is necassary. Just perfect.
My favourite is this one:

Not much to say again
R.I.P
Hey,
I just found a pretty cool video of Shawn Lane "covering" two songs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqT7_fV0Yuk
The end is some sick shredding, I dont like how it sounds, but it shows how freakin good his technique was.
Shawn was a great talent and a sad loss. Muris are you up for a Shawn lesson by any chance (a challenge even for you but one I think you could pull off)? Would be kind of nice to have something in time for 26th Sept - no pressure .
And yes he played with feel, emotion, technique and great musicianship.
Cheers,
Tony
I listened to the video 1st without watching it and I just thought *yawn*.... I then watched and I thought it was quite impressive but to me playing guitar isnt about how fast you can zap around the fretboard but about the sounds you make.
I just watched all of his videos on you tube, 1 word sums it up........ GIFTED.
