Hello

Thanks for showing me how to record. Now I need help with making backing tracks. I want to do a backing track that sounds a bit like this one: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/rhythm-gu...n-style-lesson/

Is that possible in garageband? How do I do it? I dont want a too advanced backing track, it can be the same all the way

I'm afraid I cannot help you create anything in Garageband, possibly someone who worked with that program can help more. In general, you should record everything with metronome, and lay down drums, and bass. I'm guessing GB has some kind of sampler that can play simple drum & bass grooves, so it may be a good idea to experiment with that a bit.

BTW, there are bunch of tutorials on YT for creating drums and other things, it may be best to follow the videos, it's the most effective way of learning

Hi Daman,

To create a backing track, you'll need the following

1. Drum VST
2. Instrument VST like a piano or bass instrument.
3. MIDI controller of some sort - you could use your keyboard if you don't want to invest in a keyboard controller.

Creating Drums is a real challenge if you're trying to do it from scratch. In my experience, your best bet would be to purchase EZDrummer, or Superior Drummer (the advanced version of EZDrummer) from ToonTrack:

http://www.toontrack.com/products.asp?item...CFakaQgodgleoOQ

This VST allows you to sample 1/4, 1/2 and 1 bar drum samples, then drag that sample onto your DAW's timeline. You can chain them together and edit them individually to add or remove elements like like replacing cymbals, or adding beats. So you can try to find a pre-canned sample that gets you close to the rhythm sound you're looking for then tweak it.

Grarage band, like all good DAWs incorporate these VST instruments using MIDI to control sampled sounds, which can be purchased (or found on the internet for free in many cases). Garage Band may have a Drum VST already installed - I believe it may be called "Keyboard/Drum Machine", but from my limited research, not many people like it.

There's a steep learning curve so expect a while before you get a comfortable work-flow, but once you do, creating backing tracks will definitely benefit you in the long term, especially when it's time to create your own songs, so jump in now and become an expert at it.It will be time well invested.

Chris
