Who are the guitarists out there with the cleanest technique in your opinion? I'm referring here to those ultra clean passages with no hints of any noise. Total opposites to ""sloppy"" playing (yes there are famous yet sloppy guitarists). We are looking for technique refinement of the highest level.... OK you got the point!

I will begin with none other than... Al Di Meola - this guy is in my opinion not only a fast player, but a very musical and elegant one. I can see him as the definition of refinement!

I will say Andy Timmons - he play the most perfect cleanest chords that I ever heard.
Also his playing is very musical, elegant and very touching. Another reason for why I chose Andy is because when he plays fast ( for example his song "Groove or die"), all the notes are equal played and can be heard perfectly. You don't need a tab to understand what he played there wink.gif So, for me always Andy will be number one from my list with the most perfect and cleanest technique.

Andy has a very warm and woody tone, so he definitely needs to play cleanly or else it would be mush

Great choice bro, but I have always wondered how in blazes can this guy (and Doug Aldrich for the same matter) keep his guitar swung so damn low and play all those incredibly tight and complex things? It totally surpasses me..

Definitely a favorite of mine as well, but I REALLY like his more celtic/irish oriented tunes smile.gif Such as this one:
