I had a quick question about the Line 6 Spider Valve Amp. I have a solid state Spider II 30, and I am interested in getting Spider Valve Amp in the future, so I can get more of a tubey sound with the effects that they offer. Do any of you guys know about it? Thanks!

I don't know it, but I want to say to you: tubes aren't always an attribute for a good sound.
The output stage doesn't create the sound it just makes it louder. So the "Bogner output stage" isn't really relevant for the sound.
The preamp is still digital-modeling, with 12AX7.

In the end it will stay what it is: a modeling amp. No matter with or without tubes.

Go to a store and check it out, I don't think there will be a huge difference to the Spiders before.
Tubes are popular, so what would you do as a manufacturer?

Right: Take old things, reissue them, present it like it's something revolutionary and get some well known tags on your amplifier (Bogner, Celestion).

That's my point of view. Compare this amp to others, and find out which you like best. It's a lot of money for a modeling amp and you'll may find similar sounds in the old Spider amps which are cheaper.

Or take an all-tube amplifier, which would be my choice. You'll find a lot of great sounding combos for that price.

+1 for the all tube amp. The sound from that Spider is better, but not too much better. For that kind of money, buy yourself an amp based on the presets you find most appealing from your existing Spider. Besides you already have one modeling amp - wouldn't it be much better to buy a straight tube one, than to have two modeling amps - and the same manufacturer? wink.gif

Yes, good point.
I own a Line6 modeling amp and an all-tube amp. I already forgot about that laugh.gif
Which kind of music do you like best? I might help you a little with your choice.
But testing amps is necessary in that price-category.
