don't follow boxing personally, but I have seen quite a bit of press about this fight. It must be a big deal. Anybody else have a particular sports interest? I was in to MMA for a while smile.gif Then Lasse Lammert got me in to watching kickboxing matches on youtube smile.gif

I doubt this fight will ever happen, but if it does somehow come to pass it will be on Mayweather's terms. The fight will be a boxing match. It will happen where Mayweather wants it to happen and how he wants it to happen concerning gloves, knockdown rules, number of rounds, ring size, pay split etc etc.
Most of which will be to Mayweathers advantage in the fight. Large ring,(harder to cut a fighter off) glove weight (Maidana wanted lighter , less padded gloves, Mayweather wasn't having it) number of rounds (Do many UFC or MMA type fights go for 12 three minute rounds?).
These are just the normalcies any top fighter would see in a fight deal with Mayweather.

On top of that McGregor's boxing skills are rudimentary, maybe a little better? Not saying he can't fight. He obviously can. I'm just saying he's not a boxer.
At any rate he will need a crash course not only in boxing but in how to hit a guy who has made a fortune and is undefeated in professional boxing by not getting hit and is one of the best counter punchers ever.

No, this would be nothing more than an exhibition match and it would be pretty sad to see Floyd win a 50th fight in this way.

If he wants to win a 50th fight and leave no question in anyones mind that he is "The Best Ever" (There would still be doubts biggrin.gif ) then he should try to do it with someone within the sport that deserves the shot and would have a real shot at knocking him off of his throne.

I would like to see him fight Gennady Golovkin (Triple G) but I don't think we are going to see that fight either.

Agreed.

I'd love to see this fight but not as boxing, but UFC or K1 at the very least. Oh no, wait. Won't happen. Mayweather couldn't possibly handle lowkicks.

No doubt, Floyd would be in deep s^^t. I think that fight would be over with the quickness if McGregor willed it. He could make the pain last a while and put on a show like Mayweather would surely do, or just wrap him up and have him screaming for a tap out probably in seconds, or yeah even a single well placed kick.

I want to see boxing . that way mayweather will be legitimately beat . I don"t think Connor can go the distance , he can never seem to build his stamina . The longer it goes definitely will favor Mayweather , but if Connor can pummel him quickly

I seriously doubt Connor could ever beat Mayweather just boxing.

Multi discipline fights, when they're trying to actually be serious, are always a bore and a let down. It's like golf v. chess.

I wonder if they would allow McGregor to throw a spinning backfist. biggrin.gif Although that strike is much more effective if you can fake a kick to bring your opponents guard down. Devastating! Nah, probably not.

Anyone watching Golovkin vs Jacobs tonight? It should be a good one!

That was a good fight that I think could have gone either way. I had Jacobs winning on my scorecard but it was so close that I can't dispute the judges scoring. I had never seen Jacobs fight before and I was really impressed by him in this fight. I am sure we will be hearing more about him in the future.

But the best fight was the undercard right before the main event featuring Roman Chocolatito Gonzales vs Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.
This was a war! They basically went toe to toe and exchanged blows for the duration of the bout. If you can find this match to watch, I think you won't be disappointed. It was a controversial decision but this fight too was really close too.

So the fight that I thought would never happen is actually going to happen. Anyone else going to watch?
