Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Beginner's Corner 21: String Bending by Bear Rose

This one was meant for Gab's army initially but Gab is on vacation. Nothing to lose to put it here right? Anyway, on my previous takes intonation on my guitar was not as good as this one. I tried to play more relaxed and with a lighter touch. I focused too much on vibrato before so my focus this time was more on the targeted pitches. Still not perfect but hopefully it's better. So you tell me if I am on the right track. Thanks guys!

Hey man! Sure it's worth putting this here and getting some various opinions from other instructors as well smile.gif In fact pitch is much better comparing to previous takes - I found max 3 places where it could be fixed just a little. You look more relaxedas well. As for both - vibrato and bends You can support Your 2nd finger with 1st as well. Same rule as when you bend with Your 3rd finger (on this video You put 2nd and 1st behind and make the bend using all 3 fingers to make it easier). You can do the same every time You have a free finger behind smile.gif Well done smile.gif

Hey mate!

Aside supporting Darius' observations, I thought I might add this little video here - I don't think I have shown this one to you so far - which deals with a close look at the hand position and mechanism occuring when executing bending and vibrato:

It's all about:

- learning the mechanics in order to be able to control the string/strings
- train your ear so that you will always be able to reach the desired pitch

You have shown progress so keep it up, in order to develop yourself further!

Hi man, I'll agree with what the other dudes have said too.

Another thing I noticed was that you let some of the bends down too early.. for example, at 0:09 and some other occasions. Try to hold onto the bend until the last possible moment before it's time to change.

The pitch control is going to take some time but you will get there, just have faith and keep practising. It won't hurt if you also try some different lessons with bending to give your ear a break from this. Sometimes we can get burnt out on the same track and a different challenge can give us the boost that we need.
