This forum might end up being incredibly short, seeing that this is a site mainly for guitarists. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that some of you have tried to write lyrics in the past. so lets see it!

I'll go first.

Like most "first" lyrical attempts, this one I had is about a girl I know. And it may sound a little cheesy and pop-ish (and it is) but when I tried to get my thoughts and feelings down on paper this is what came out.

Revolutionary Girl ©- Written by Thomas P (thats my real name)

-Intro/Chorus-
Revolutionary Girl
Revolutionary Girl
you change the face of my whole world
Revolutionary Girl

I feel your meaning when you speak
you got that smile that makes me weak
You might just save the world one day
But you're completing mines today.

Oh--------Oh!----------
-Chorus-

You're the gift of inspiration
girls like you happen once a generation
the resolution in your eyes
Now I wanna be a revolutionary guy

Oh--------Oh!----------
-Chorus-

-Solo Break! (which I'm finally learning how to do thanks to GMC!) -

So go ahead and wave that sign While
I figure out how to make you mine
The Revolution that I must start
Begins and ends from your heart
to mine

Oh--------Oh!----------

Revolutionary Girl
Revolutionary Girl
you change the face of my whole world
Revolutionary Girl
you change the face of my whole world
Revolutionary Girl
Revolutionary Girl

-Fade Out-

hehe, pretty cool. Me and a friend of mine worked out these lyrics over some acoustic licks i made up.

I remember plains,
dressed with grass and sparks of life,
in my cell so dark!

In these dripping walls,
with marks of blood and scratches of nails,
Im INCAGED! (impisoned for life")

I can't recall the taste
of life outside these walls
in this suffocating place,
i feel like waste.

God, what have i done?
my life, a burning hell!
can you ease the pain,
thats ripping off my mind?

chorus:
I feel nothing at all,
They pushed me to fall again,
I cant reach my soul,
guess you ripped it apart again.

(interlude + possibly short solo not made)

Verse 2:

My sins to human minds,
have cursed my life,
sentenced to
suffer ETERNALY!

Im forced into a cage,
for sins i dont recall,
I dont know if i've done it
AT ALL! (imprisonded for life)

but what am i to do,
wheres an opening so bright,
what have i to do,
untill the end of life

In my darkest place,
i saw an angel of light
showing me the way,
to feel the taste of life.

chorus

at the first look it may look like this IN ANY WAY cant fit together with just 3 riffs, Verse, chorus and instrumental interlude, but suprisingly it does laugh.gif
pretty emo isn't it? laugh.gif

My favorite line in your piece. Reminiscent of Venom. Kinda reminds me of "buried alive"

Decination
===========

Tyranous gaze, from a throne of bayonets
The self destructive antithesis of all that is legitimate
Encompassing two worlds, set for collision
No questions poised,
No clever descisions

Oceans of blue within a sea of red
Differentiating the new from the old
Glorified, the new age constantine
Yet another duplicate to the fold

Recruiting the masses on false promises
Selling the world, for the price of a life
Flying that flag for a broken democracy
Baying the politicians, playing with knives

Constructing a desert,
Christened by the name of peace
Callous disregard, as worlds collide
The masses stare on in an awestruck disbelief

Blind, the truth in your minds eye
Deceived of all destructive obtrusions
Stare into the careless void
Behold, a murderous dream of sycophantic illusions

The silenced lie shrouded underneath a hill of poppies
Opiate seeping reality into their unliving -
A still sea of lifeless bodies
Set to endure the ever lasting contemplation
Life everlasting only to their dying statement
This is no jaded conflict, this is decination

I'm actually not a huge fan of Slayer, sure I like them, but I dont listen to them a lot.

But I suppose I can see were your coming from tongue.gif

I'm not into all that mock Satan worship that Slayer lyrics seem to endorse though, I think thats a bit naff biggrin.gif

I always see this one as more Slayer-y ;

3 Minute War
===============

I could die 50 times or more
People are just figures
3 minute war.

A race of arms, or of arms to race
Across the world
We seed our own poison
As both creators and destroyers

Deaths all around
Fill the skys with blood and gore
Come meet the wretched
3 minute war.

Forecasting worldwide chrenobyle
We shall cultivate our own corpses
Basking in the rotting meat
Knee deep in the dead.

We radiate hatred
Yet we still crave more
Come bury the cadavers
3 Minute War.

I've got tonnes of lyrics and half finished songs in general >_< I could go on forever here smile.gif

Man, we had to write a song in my English class recently, i only had an hour to throw it together, but i ended up liking it alot, i even got riffs and some solo's for it. Kinda violent i know, it all comes from Richard Matheson's "Witch War" its not really about it, just inspired about it.

----------------------
----------------------
The Seven Witches©
----------------------
----------------------

Seven little girls, Seven little witches from hell
Seven ways, In which you could die
Parnormal Indiscriminate Murderous Intention
A randomized way, Of taking life

No one knows, Of where they truly come
But all know, Where in lies there soul
Otherworldy, Phenomena
Possessors of the darkest souls

(You, Will, Die!)
In one of seven ways
(You, Will, Die!)
And you will never see it coming
(The, End, Comes!)
The Seven Witches Hunt
(The, End Comes!)
The Seven Witches Kill

From another world, she crawls up your back
The witch of mental destruction, Rips at your mind
The sudden heat, Comes like an attack
The witch of fire, Burning through your eyes

You see the walls, slowly distort
The Third Witch, The witch of dementia
A sudden wound, Comes across your chest
The witch of blood, Has come to get ya!

(You, Will, Die!)
In one of seven ways
(You, Will, Die!)
And you will never see it coming
(The, End, Comes!)
The Seven Witches Hunt
(The, End, Comes!)
In seven different ways

Now the last three witches
Are so truly grim
Now the last three witches
Can do worse than death

Now these last 3 witches
Will shear you limb from limb
Now these last 3 witches
Have come for you after death

(You, Will, Die!)
In one of seven ways
(You, Will, Die!)
And you will never see it coming
(The, End, Comes!)
The seven witches kill
(You, End, Die!)
The Seven Witches from hell

Seven little girls, Seven little witches from hell
Seven ways, In which you could die
Parnormal Indiscriminate Murderous Intention
A randomized way, Of taking life

The Seven Witches Kill

As violent as it was, my teacher liked it smile.gif

I've yet to get started writing my anti-religous song yet, everything I note always pales in comparison to the first line I drempt up a while back.

But yeah, I think we should have a Songwriting/Vocal forum here at GMC! cool.gif

ooooooook lol

ill give this a go...

heres some lyrics i wrote a few months back, its about a really rough time i went through about 5 years ago when someone very close to me died. the song basically says that you should never give up and live life to the fullest when you can because you never know when its gonna end.

Rising Sun - Chris Kerswell

Looking out through misty waters
There they stand in the night
I didnt think it could be over
But dont give up without a fight

[CHORUS]
I can see a rising sun
(I can see a rising sun)
I can see a rising sun
(I can see a rising sun)
It sets for you

Though the shadows are broken
The figures standing are no more
The little hope that you have stood for
There they lay accross the floor

[CHORUS]

solo

[CHORUS]

I'm no copyright lawyer by any stretch of the imagination, but you guys might want to consider putting some text somewhere in your post that your lyrics/material has copyright or is protected. If you care - you never know. wink.gif Perhaps Andrew can shed some light on this subject though? Otherwise I think this is a cool idea.

Actually this brings up another question: if you post something like this on GMC, have you given up rights to your material?

I am ignorant in this area - I would suspect that at minimum you would need to include a copyright symbol and the year to claim it is copyrighted though.
