Guys, two days ago, I was taking a break from the rehearsal with the orchestra and alongside a good friend and colleague in the Mozart Rocks! project, decided to grab something to eat. We went down the street to a Turkish pastry shop and bought a few pies and pastry goodies, which we were planning to enjoy in the park.
We sat down on a bench and we noticed this poor homeless old man right in front of us on another bench. I suddenly felt really bad thinking we were to enjoy our goodies and he would just watch so, I gave him a pie and he thanked me very much and dug into it like he hadn't been eating for days. My friend smiled and told me he was just about to do the same, but he was afraid the old man would curse him, if he wouldn't've been a beggar actually. I took the chance though even if the same thought came to my mind and it turned out right
Now, the conclusion is: who do we help? How do we know who really needs charity and who doesn't? Tough choice huh?
I wouldn't give ONE crumb to young kids on the street - they can work! But the elder people are a different matter!
What do you think? Have you ever been through such an awkward situation and if yes, how did you act?
