Mhskeide - Hammer-on Slap 1 |
|
Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.
The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Very good! The sound and the notes all came out pretty good, but timing is slightly off, I think you are rushing a bit. One point knocked off because of that.

Very good take man!
As Ivan mentioned main concern would be timing. You are playing slightly in front of the beat and you won't find your pocked there. You need to play on top of the beat or slightly (just slightly!) behind it in order to get in the groove (pocket). Technique was pretty good, maybe you could do even more stronger hammer-ons to get all the notes out. Thumps were a little bit too overpowering try to find a balance. Also one thing I would suggest is to try to move your thumping position more towards the end of fretboard, try to slap by having your thumb exactly over the end of fretboard to see which tone you get.You should be able to get more of a snappy tone.Regarding slap tone setup, I would recommend using equal mix of both pickups and having bass and treble frequencies on 1 or 2 o'clock position where middle stays flat or even lowered. Some amps have the "scoop" or "enhance" knob which enables you to scoop (cut) mid frequencies and raise bass and treble or vise versa. Its very useful for slap tone setup but be careful with that since scooped mids mean less definition and cut-through the mix. Your tone was actually pretty good for online videos etc , just a little to bassy. But it had mids that would be heard on all types of speakers (even laptop speakers). So your bass tone depends a lot for what is meant for (gigs/online videos/album etc). Good job overall! -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net
