It's time to rock n rollll! 2013 style
I have cooked up a backing track based on the riff we discovered together at last week's v-chat session and I am waiting for your takes so that we may begin 2013 at full strength! I will also take advantage of the video chat sessions to discuss your takes if you would like to share ideas in there!
Let's see what we have here:
Progressions (all power chords): E G A Bb A G and E E/D# D D/C# C C/B A G E
Scales which you can use: E min pentatonic and E min blues
Deadline: January 20th
Material format: .wav or mp3 files
- one containing the take without any effects
- the other containing the whole take with the backing track included
If there are any questions - please do not shy away from asking!
Cosmin
PS: Some of the ideas for my take can be found here: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=39243&view=findpost&p=625363

I'm in. I have yet to have the honor of joining one of your collabs. I just have one dumb question, the chord progression is all power chords, what are these chords? E/D# D/C# C/B? Is it just like its written an E and a D#, etc. or is it an E5 with an added D# for a bass note?

Hey mate! I am the honored one
These chords are power chords having that note in the bass - for instance E/D# is an E5 with a D# in the bass.

Hey man! So when you say the scales we can use are E Blues and E Minor Pent, are we restricted to those scales or is it just a guideline?

Did you mean one take with no backing and one with a backing?
I am not sure I can render a take with a dry clean signal since my tone is processed before it goes into my PC, if thats what you are looking for.

Hey Mr. Rich - just as usual, one with the backing and one without the backing, I just didn't need the reverb/ delay and such

Hey guys! The deadline is closing in, so let's see, who's got some more racing licks for this one?

Hey Boss, here's my attempt. Hope its okay.

Ive attached the guitar only track. Ive not been able to get pod farm working from within reaper but I used as little effects as I could get away with.

Hey C-man, I might have to sit this one out. I just installed SONAR Producer X2 and everything's working OK except that I'm getting some terrible Latency issues when recording the guitar live.
I've been through all the relevant settings and can't find any problems so have just got in touch with Cakewalks Tech Support and am waiting for their answer! Hopefully it will all be up and running properly in the next couple of days!

Hey guys! I'll take a look into it
Alright guys - my bad, I just moved the tracks a bit - I had the impression they were correct - but anyway, when I meant timing, I wasn't referring at bad timing, due to this little glitch, but more as to timing as in phrasing
Hope you guys enjoyed this one

Gentlemen! I am proud to present the 'New Year's Race Collab' final mix! It sounds .... just like a race!! Exciting and full of adrenaline!! Congratulations and thank you everyone for bringing a very inspiring contribution to this collab - I had so much good material that I doubled the track length
I think we could fit in as a NASCAR soundtrack with this one!
Jouve - great theme. tight playing and very fit to begin with! And awesome bends in the second chorus!
Bleez - you had a lot of nice phrases - fact due to which you are appearing in the doubled track as well - but I think that the trick with the volume pot really ignited the collab and went really well with Jouve's theme!
vonhotch - I chose your fast picked alternate picking passage to create a nice entrance in the first 'chorus part'
Cosmin - yay! I am here too
TimmyB - awesome licks and diversity, I think you should participate more often mate - you have no clue on what you have missed out so far
tonyk - you have also provided a theme like phrase which went really well over the intro of the second part of the track! Just take care of the notes a bit, as they sounded just a bit blurry in the fast part
In the second part - I have used that long note as it added a plus to the whole atmosphere
mad - nice melodic long notes that took the piece into the chorus - watch out for the timing and pitch a bit
Quantum - you have a nice touch mate - just be careful on the timing
Opetholic - Mert - the alternate picker
I say this was good but, don't get lost in the technique mate
You have tried to use bends and more melodic phrasing in the first part of your take, but it was a bit too linear so i decided to use this part which showcases your skills!
Thank you again guys - hope I haven't missed anybody - and see you in the next collab which will be a video one and... it will involve Pirate costumes
Stay tuned
Cosmin
Wow beautiful job guys!!
