GMC Forum _ THEORY _ 5 Must Know Grant Green Licks

Posted by: Matt Warnock Guitar Jan 20 2013, 12:19 PM

After people dug the Joe Pass licks I posted last week, I thought I would follow it up by writing out and analyzing 5 of my favorite Grant Green licks.

Here are 5 of my favorites with analysis and practice suggestions

And this one is probably the one I use the most out of the 5, what about you?

Can't wait to dig into this! GG is one of my FAVORITE jazz players! Very excited to have you on GMC, because I love jazz and you have a ton of great learning material to add.

I'm also a huge fan of Melvin Sparks, Eric Krasno ("Kraz" from Soulive), John Scofield and Larry Carlton's funky stuff. Have you ever heard Melvin? Really unique, rhythmic style.

Thanks, hope you dig the licks!

I dig Melvin and all those cats. Big fan of Soulive and Eric Krasno, great player and that band is just killin.
