Assuming that this list is meant to be objective, something is definitely amiss with the algorithm used to calculate this figure. I have been paying attention, and not knocking any of these fine lessons, but your most popular lessons that you list each month are definitely not always those by criteria of most used, by any reasonable criteria I can see. For example, no lesson has had more popularity than Pentatonic Solo by Marcus S. It had 60-70 at a time for awhile, and even now has 15. None on your list have had the average per day near that lesson, I am sure of that. And since most of them were released after Pentatonic Solo, they could not have more cumulative for the month of April. The list makes no sense mathematically by any criteria I can think of.

Not that they are not fine lessons, but I think you need to revisit with your programmers how this is calculated.

edit: I was considering the possibility you calculate this on an average number of users basis. That in itself would NOT be a fair measure anyway, as the advantage would be skewed towards those released late in the month (they of course peak the first few days in number of users). But the Rock Solo lesson was released early, so I doubt such an algorithm would have captured that one if this were your method of calculation.

I think Kris has said before that he takes a number of things into consideration to calculate the most popular lessons, not just average daily users.

I agree, Kris stated clearly that they consider more factors when choosing the popular lessons. I also think that the lessons that go live in the end of the month have the same chance as the lessons that went live in the middle of the month. It must be that way

They're great lessons.

Thats fine. But I know Pentatonic Solo has been the most popular item in the history of this site. Only one that can compare is Marcus L Winding roads. I expect it had more users than any the month of April, I would bet money on that, notwithstanding released April 16. How can that make any sense? I just watch what is popular, and have noticed that these lists do not really correlate all that well with popularity. It is Kris's site, but I suspect he is not being supported with the type of numbers he needs to make a decision here. No way on earth Pentatonic Solo could have been left off like that, and something not been amiss. I counted users once, and it exceeded 70. And a week later it was still 40 or 50. Come on, not on the most popular list? Something is amiss here. I think Kris is not getting good numbers from somebody.
