GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ New Here. Again...

Posted by: ztevie Jan 2 2012, 03:33 PM

Hi!
I'm Stefan from Sweden. I recently signed up again after a break from GMC (and guitarplaying). I got the motivation back and I really find many lessons here quite good. I've set myself the goal to learn at least a few lessons around the 7-9 level... I especially like Emir Hot's and Muris lessons.
I've played many years but never really practiced seriously. So I guess you could say I've played effeciently for about the equilant of someone who played 5 years.
Nowadays I only play at home, with this gear:

Peavey Vandenberg Custrom Quilt
Peavey Vandenberg 2nd Edition
Ztevie Signature from REK Guitars, Poland
Yamaha LL6X
POD X3

Here's a family photo of the electrics:

Here's a short video of a Student Lesson I did here at GMC a long time ago, recorded with the "Ztevie" guitar:

And here's a recent recording I did for a competition I found on YouTube. Sloppy and flaws everywhere, but I only had a few hours to record before deadline. I just came up with a basic melody and filled in the rest with improvised stuff. Guitar used is the Vandenberg Custom:

Thanks!
Can I ask, there are no more competitions? I liked those, it really pushed me to actually grabbing the guitar and get productive...

edit:

And yes: I don't like to use the term-competition! It is more like exchanging ideas.. Sometime they are grandiose, sometimes a little less, but all that we constantly learning...

Well, I agree about the term competition, it's not really about winning, but rather to get off my ass and produce something with some healthy pressure...

I will participate in collabs, unfortunately i will work very much for the 2 weeks to come, I'll see if I can get the time... I'm fortunate enough to have a job where I have free weeks every now and then, so some weeks I'll have all the time in the world (or the time the wife and daughter let me have by myself smile.gif)...

Hi Stefan, pleased to meet you.. wow, those guitars are beautiful ! smile.gif

Thanks guys!

I would also like to thank the guitar to the left, the Vandenberg Custom Quilts are kind of rare and I wanted one for years... When I finally found this got the motivation back, cause it's playability, feel and tone is really something else. Can't put it down now...

I will try to get into some lessons here and maybe try the REC-thing also. I found Ben Higgins have a few lessons that I like. Thinking of classic stuff like Jon Uli Roth and Schenker, and also Friedman and his own Armageddon solo. If and when I can play those clean I might hit the recording button on my cam.... wink.gif

I learned Muris's Mojo Oro yesterday, but I'm a million miles from playing it as clean and fast as the original. So that'll have to rest for a couple of decades I think, haha...
