Hi,
Iam using my apple and garageband (with amplitude) to play at home. I use a apogee jam connector.
This is a fine sound for me.

Now my question: iam having a epiphone les paul, i want a gibson les paul. Will i hear the difference trough my setup as described above ?.

my opinion, no, i have some experiance with amplitube and garage band. dont really know the best way to describe amplitube, maybe the best way for me to describe it it lacks dynamics of your playing i guess, and to me it just didnt sound authentic. but its still pretty cool for a easy way to plug in fast and record. it was only a few months ago i moved from amplitube to micing my amp. i used a pod hd at sam ash guiatr shop, demod it and that thing sounded good, epiphones are good instruments i think get a good set up and you have yourself a good playing guitar

Hi,
Hmm, iam using the apogee jam, it sounds great trough my apple and bose system.
I have a marchall amp to, but iam not using it at home because my other setup (apogee jam) sounds much better at home.

But a gibson is a big investment, so the question is, is it so much better than the epiphone. And it will only be used at home.

i have a gibson les paul traditional and yes it sounds better than my epiphone that i sold but its hard to say you would notic the difference through amplitube. you could look at my rec the first 3 i think are done using amplitube, maudio profire 610 interfac, and a les paul couple of them may be a american strat. then you could look at my more recent recs that use mostly my lp and a miced mesa boogie

As was mentioned, the nicer version of the Les Paul will sound a bit better due partially to having a bit better pickups, wood, etc. But will you notice a HUGE difference? Probably not. Honestly, the Epiphone LP is solid instrument. I'd suggest maybe putting the money it would cost for an upgraded less paul for Pro studio monitors/earphones, and at least one good mic like an SM 57.

KRK makes good entry level monitors as does ALESIS. About 200 each or so. But they don't have tons of bass so getting a matching sub won't hurt smile.gif The bose system that you can get when you buy a mac is a great playback system for music/movies, but it's not the best for mixing since it has lots of BOOM and TWEET. Monitors/Speakers used for recording mixing, are designed to sound sorta flat without much boom/tweet. But heck, some folks work with ear buds til they save up for monitors so just use whatever you can put together and always be in saving/upgrade mode smile.gif
