Hey, Jose! I came across your entry for Guitar Idol, and just fell in love with it. It's beautiful and melodic, and still manages to have a groove going on! Anyways, I was wondering if you happened to have a transcription or tabs of this song. Either way, congrats on the song! biggrin.gif

I found a set (neck and bridge) of Dimarzio Evolutions for $100 on my local Craigslist. Is this a good deal? How do they sound? I have a feeling that if I don't buy them soon, someone else will get to them right away, so please hurry!

P.S. They are supposedly in good shape, have only been in one guitar, no pick scratches or anything either. The guy says he got active pickups to replace them,so there's nothing wrong with them.

Thanks!

I had a great laugh over this, just some music geek humor! laugh.gif

C, E-flat and G go into a bar. The bartender says, "sorry,
but we don't serve minors." So E-flat leaves, and C and G
have an open fifth between them. After a few drinks, the
fifth is diminished and G is out flat. F comes in and tries
to augment the situation, but is not sharp enough.

D comes in and heads for the bathroom saying, "Excuse me.
I'll just be a second." Then A comes in, but the bartender
is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor.
Then the bartender notices B-flat hiding at the end of the
bar and says, "Get out! You're the seventh minor I've found
in this bar tonight."

E-Flat comes back the next night in a three-piece suit with
nicely shined shoes. The bartender says, "you're looking
sharp tonight. Come on in, this could be a major
development." Sure enough, E-flat soon takes off his suit
and everything else, and is au natural.

Eventually C sobers up and realizes in horror that he's
under a rest. C is brought to trial, found guilty of
contributing to the diminution of a minor, and is sentenced
to 10 years of D.S. without Coda at an upscale correctional
facility.

Hey guys, I wanted a few outside opinions on this, I'll try to keep it short.

I was at Guitar Center, and happened to see a 1989 Fender HM Strat. I picked it up, just out of curiosity, and wound up spending over an hour just jamming on this guitar and a Fender amp, not sure what. Anyways, it was incredible! The amp was great, as well, but the guitar just blew me away! Not to mention the amp is way out of my price range...

Long story short, I'm thinking about taking the cash from selling my old acoustic and putting towards this guitar. This particular one has a HSS pickup configuration, 5-way switch, coil tap for the bridge, 24-fret neck, and a master volume and two tone knobs. The bridge is a Floyd Rose (didn't catch what kind, or even used it, there was no bar.), and it has a locking nut. The price was between $350 and $450, I can't remember it exactly, but it's somewhere in that range. Anyways, it plays and sounds like $1200+ guitar to my hands and ears, but maybe I'm crazy.

Does anyone have any bad experiences/warnings about this line? Do you think it seems like a decent instrument?

I have a Schecter C-1 Classic, and I absolutely love it. Not much of a reputation, but these guitars are great, just the sheer quality for the price is unbeatable. Anyways, just about my only gripe about this guitar is the lack of a tremolo. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the string-through design, but having a tremolo just opens up so many possibilities.

I've pondered the possibility of getting a new guitar for a long time, but I don't want to waste money on another guitar that I don't need (can't afford it anywho), so I don't want to just pick up a guitar that I won't use for a long time. On the other hand, I've thought about investing in a higher-end or custom guitar, that will hopefully be in use for most of my life. But realistically, I know I won't be able to afford one for quite a while. Besides, I really do love the feel of the guitar, and it's definitely worth investing in. So, I've decided to check out installing a tremolo.

Now, I've heard that installing a Floyd Rose on a string-through guitar is just about catastrophic, the work/cost required is massive. I've been wondering about Kahler bridges, though. My uncle has an old Carvin with a Kahler and I just love the feel of it! I don't have much experience with tremolos, but I actually much prefer the feel of the Kahlers I've tried to Floyd Roses. Now, I think that Kahlers can be installed on carved top guitars, and with only top routing, right? So, does anybody who has some experience with Kahlers know difficult/how damaging would it be to install one on this guitar?

Also, does anybody with experience in both Kahlers and Floyd Roses have any opinions about these, which are better for different things, or which they prefer? I'm mostly interested in using the bar for vibrato, from gentle chord vibrato to some wild, crazy, half-step-or-more vibrato (a la Greg Howe), and melodic usage (stuff like Vai). And of course, being able to dive bomb or make it scream without it dropping out of tune is a plus.

Finally, about locking nuts. I'm sure they are a great help in keeping the guitar in tune, but wouldn't sticking of of these on have a pretty nasty impact on your tone, or your sustain?

Thank you in advance!
