Exactly! My idea is to edit a video with the final mix!

QUOTE (Phil66 @ Jan 2 2021, 05:49 PM) *
Hello folks,

Thought I'd try a bit of acoustic in the intro. Along this idea, what do you think?

One question, how do I prevent the sound of my breathing apart from holding my breath? I had a pop canceller in front of the mic, I thought about getting a snorkel but that might be worse. Is there a way with a limiter of something like that? Both my acoustics have piezos in them but as you know, they just don't have the same sound. Maybe a scarf or Covid face mask will do it wink.gif

Cheers

That sounds great mate! Using a sm57 is a very good option for acoustics, and I've never had any issues with guitarist's breathing. If you put it close to your guitar, the breath won't be a problem.

57 is a great mic for just about everything smile.gif There is a handy hack that folks sometimes use for a second mic. Just grab your cell phone and point it (mic is in the bottom) toward the hole in our acoustic guitar. You can mix it in to the other audio and see if you like it. Not for this one, but just something to maybe try next time you use your acoustic.

QUOTE (Phil66 @ Jan 2 2021, 06:26 PM) *
Thanks, that was an SM57, it's all I have. Next time I'll put a scarf round my face. cool.gif

Had some fun and games recording this, couldn't get rid of the breathing even with the mic 1" (25mm) from the guitar but the mask in the video means that you can't hear it along with the backing wink.gif Gives it a bit of Friday The 13th vibe though laugh.gif

Also, this has introduced me to the world of post-recording VST plugins, never used them before but used and EQ and comp, don't really understand compressors so pulled one out of the box and left it as it was, it seemed to help.

Now to look at the other parts.

Cheers

hehe great stuff Phil! I don't think that breathing is a problem in this one. It sounds great. And your video looks cool, I like the Friday 13th vibe. biggrin.gif

Nice to know that you are experimenting with post production, EQ and Comp. I can share some good youtube vids about this. Let me know and I'll share some in your mentoring thread.

Are you going to record more stuff over the other parts? GREAT!! biggrin.gif

Who else is working on anything for this one?? We are '6 days to go' now!

Thanks Gab,

I think maybe I needed some sort of pre-amp for the mic or something else. The gain on my Scarlett was on full and still only getting - 12db.

I enjoyed the process anyway and that's the main thing cool.gif

Your scarlett already has a mic pre amp. Did you set the input as mic or line?

Thanks Gab,

Looks a little bit complicated but I'll also check the GP file.

I don't know what "Bm A" means and can't at the moment find anything on the web, more research needed.

Cheers

Hello Phil.

IT means that you play the half measure b minor and the other half of the measure A major. 👍

if it is a slash chord , you can also play a B( second fret root on the 5th string ) minor chord with the root an open A note(5th string) , for nice tonalities, its like a walking bass note

No probleem mate.

BTW a slash chord is a chord with another (mostly) chord tone in the base.
So of you gave a G chord its spelled GBD. Sometimes you see the G/B you then play a G chord first inversion so that it starts with the B note.

If you got an A note in the bminor it is a Bminor 7 because the A is the 7th note of the B minor scale. Just a little theory 🙂

Or i mean the A is the minor 7th of the B. Then i say it correct 😁
