Off course, you know that a lot of people suffer from GAS syndrome. I must confess that from time to time me to want to buy gear that I in reality don't REALLY need, but then I change my mind. I

Can you share your own experiences? Can you be honest and say how many things you have you don't even use, and you bought it just because you CAN

Also where is the line in your opinion where gear starts to be a colector's hobby and starts to be G.A.S. biggrin.gif

Well i dont know, i only have 3 main pieces of gear, POD, Amp, Guitars. I used to have so much more, but since i got the POD i sold them all.

I think its just natural for guitarists to want every piece of equipment, if your like me, you just wonder what else you can get to transform your sound! smile.gif

Does gas stand for Gear aquiring sydrome? huh.gif

I don't suffer from it since I don't have enough money but, when I get a job and my life on a steady basis... I'm afraid I might just get it, cos theres SO MUCH great stuff out there that I've had my eye on... unsure.gif

All I can say is that I'm glad my wife has no idea of the value of all the gear I have. She thinks that I have tremendous bartering skills with the local pawn shop. Which by the way is a great place to spend all of that mama dosen't know cash and get great value, I mean sometimes EXTREME value.

Nope, all of my gas has been limited to guitars mostly. I have sold 3 guitars that I didn't use much. Of the 4 I have now, only 1 doesn't get a bunch of playing time and it's kept mainly as a backup to my fixed bridge. It's a lousy schecter gryphon. I'll probably let go of it here before too long, at least once the E-GEN comes out.

Off Topic: I think I figured out why the guitar is called the E-GEN. it's the first 24 fret S to be made out of their Fujigen plant after production of all S's was moved to Korea. My guess was they kept refering to it as the Fujigen S until it was shortened to simply E-GEN

yep I`m terrible laugh.gif

I`ve got 5 guitars (soon to be 6 laugh.gif) two of which I cant honestly remember when I played last blink.gif one of the not used ones is quite old now I`ve had it years and I guess I only keep it for sentimental reasons,

I`ve just bought a new drum machine, even tho I already got one, but I talked myself into it by saying to myself that I`ve had my drum machine for many years, it needs updating, its perfectly good enough in reality though laugh.gif

Some effects pedals (distortion, chorus, delay, pitchshifter, and graphic eq) that have just become redundent by me buying the POD XT live, but cant bring myself to part with the pedals, just in case, ya never know unsure.gif

i`m obsessed with guitar picks, trouble is they are expensive here (well i think so anyways) so if I see the picks that I use (Jazz III`s) on ebay, going mega cheap for a whole bundle of them from the US I cant help myself laugh.gif I honestly couldnt tell you how many I`ve got .... but its a lot!

I bought a reverb/delay unit for vocals that I`ve probably used maybe 5 times in as many years? but its here sitting on the shelf, a Yamaha Tone generator that I do use from time to time, but could probably make do without, I dunno theres some other stuff in the loft in a box laugh.gif

I cant part with any of it tho, even tho it drives my wife mad, you may have seen I gave away an old Korg efects unit to a member here, but that wasnt until I got the POD and knew that there was just no way I`d ever use it again.

I know, I`m sad laugh.gif

Well, GAS is strong here to, but I keep it under control somehow. If I see something that I can afford but don't really need (in translation i can do without it too), I want to buy it very badly. But then I stop and think a little, and the thought is gone. It's like a terrible habit to constantly buy stuff, but buying stuff makes me happy, so I understand why I have G.A.S. cool.gif

I have this too I must say.....I love buying stuff for the kitchen...actually just for the house in general. But I also have a bit of G.A.S. Now in my defence I do use all the stuff I've bought but I still have more then I need at the moment.

Gibson LP Standard, Garrison G20 acoustic, Vox AD30VT amp, Whammy and Wah pedal, DF7 Distortion pedal and a Pod XT. Now I'm looking at getting a new guitar (oh I sold a Peavey raptor and rage amp forgot that) just deciding which one. I could sell the Whammy as don't use that much but I like it.

But hey there is worse stuff in the world to buy then guitar gear and kitchen utensils tongue.gif
