Muris,
Have you played an Ibanez guitar that has the ZR tremolo on it? If so what do you think of them? Also have you ever played a steinberger? Any thoughts on these two pieces of gear would be appreciated.

I really don't play Ibanez guitars that often
but I did some googling and I see this ZR tremolo is
some kind of improved Pro Edge or som.
Seems like floating tho and I'm not real fan of floating bridges. sad.gif

And I played Steinberger but bass, not guitar.
Looks cool, headless style, sound would depend of standard matters
like wood,pickups etc. smile.gif

What kind of tremolo do you have on your MK Muris? I thought it was a floyd? What type of tremolos do you prefer? The nice thing about the ZR is it uses ball bearings instead of knife edges so it has really good tuning stability. Do you prefer hardtail guitars? Seems like most of the stuff I have seen you play has been floyd equipped.

ZR doesn't hold tuning better, but the pros are that it can't be dullened, like the edge. however, a dull edge is sharpened by a professional in few minutes.
ZR is good, but it's not a huge difference really. If you want massive tuning stability, get the new carbon alloy tuning rod they build. I got one, and it holds tuning like crazy, but it takes away the floating feel of the trem.

Sorry to butt in Muris biggrin.gif

It is standard Floyd Rose but not floating.
The hole is smaller, just like for regular tremolo
so the bridge is laying on guitar body all the time.
This way I can do only "dive bomb" kind a effects with whammy bar
but on the other hand I have more sustain and it's piece of cake to change string or whole set,
bridge is always in same position. smile.gif

And I don't like balls a lot cause you have to find it on the floor when string is broken. biggrin.gif

Why don't you like floating trems? Tuning stability?
