Declaring War Against The Adaptor Madness |

The title says it all, yesterday I spent another 1 1/2 hour searching for a specific adapter to my old video-camera before I found it. I have made a calculation on this issue and I spend bout 4-5 hours a week in searching of those damned things. So therefore I curse the whole electronics industry, and from now on I'm only gonna use devices with real power-units!
I have a box in my basement that consists of 60-70 adapters, and by looking at them no one can tell what they are good for. The manufactorers doesn't even bother to put their own name on them anymore, they rather buy some cheap garbage and send it along with their device. Even on expensive products, You can't have one without an adaptor, and its most annoying. Neither is there any standard, when I lost my adaptor to my Nikon camera, I had to order one from Nikon that costed me some 50 Euro's - if I still had been an electronic hobbyist, I could have built this one for 3 Euro's........ So therefore I now declare War against the manufactorers - I want real power units in the devices, otherwise I'm gonna take all the cables on my adapters and make some ropes out of them in order to hang the responsible persons for this madness. //Staffay EDIT: And now I'm looking for a head-phone adaptor..... Or you could label them Hmmm, that might be a good idea in the case og the 60 one's already lying there, but what about those I can't find??? They goes hand in hand with the picks we discussed the other day - eg. they live their own life and are NEVER on location when needed.... //Staffay -------------------- Guitars: Ibanez AM-200, Ibanez GB-10, Fender Stratocaster Classic Player, Warmouth Custom Built, Suhr Classic Strat, Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003, Ibanez steel-string Amps: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Marshall JMP 2103, AER 60 Effects: BOSS DD-20, Danelectro Trans. I sympathise Staffay - we have far too many here as well. My wife never labels those for her stuff. She just throws them all in a crate and leaves me to untangle and sort them out. The other thing I hate about chargers/adaptors is that the info plate is often really hard to read in poor light (OK maybe my eyesight is poor due to old age ).
The other thing I'd add is that it would be nice if there was convergence on audio signal cables. Here we have: 1/4 inch jack 1/4 inch TRS mini jack XLR male and female AES/EBU XLR analogue male and female AES XLR male female digital Spdif phono spdif digital Tdif USB 1, 1.1, 2 (and probably 3 very soon) Tascam D Sub 15 pin audio Tascam DSub 15 pin digital Tascam D Sub 9 pin digital Firewire mini firewire .... -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. Yeah, thats also a total mess, let's hang them manufactorers too!!!! But I have a neat solution on this one - NEVER throw away any cable/contact/jack and visit the local electronics store at least once a year and buy one of each item they may possible have! *I just realized why I have enough cables to route a signal to Siberia... ) //Staffay -------------------- Guitars: Ibanez AM-200, Ibanez GB-10, Fender Stratocaster Classic Player, Warmouth Custom Built, Suhr Classic Strat, Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003, Ibanez steel-string Amps: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Marshall JMP 2103, AER 60 Effects: BOSS DD-20, Danelectro Trans. I agree Staffy! I lost so much time looking for them. What is worst, they don't label what the adapter is for in any way on the unit. Its really annoying sometimes I look at the adapter trying to remember what is it for...Why don't they manufacture adapters same brand as product, or include it in the unit.

I couldn't agree more!
Why don't they use a universal power adapter for everything! Something like the USB, only to charge moble phones/ipods/gaming systems/cameras... it can't be that difficult -------------------- Guitars:
