Miles Davis in his lifetime Authorized the release of 48 studio records and 36 'live' records (84 total authorized).
*There were also compilations. Keep in mind he also changed the course of music four times during his career. Since his death there have been dozens of others released of newly found live and studio recordings. Coltrane - 59 I think Tangerine Dream has released 100 albums. Elvis - 42 (104 if you count the posthumous releases) Grateful Dead - 63 'official' (100's of 'bootleg' but available recordings) Sinatra - 81 (some posthumously) Zappa - 63 Dylan - 43 RUSH - 21 (starting in '74) *There's been 58 posthumous Jimi Hendrix albums. During his brief career - 4 Paul McCartney 'solo' - at least 30 (never mind about those Beatles guys) It's easy with the band Chicago - they just number their records. They're at #33 I assume there's an Indian or other Asian artist that has probably released 100's. *I love Deep Purple but 19 albums over 45 years isn't really that many.
