For anyone in a gigging band, especially starting out, the PAY TO PLAY thing is very familiar. I remember having to pre sell tickets to nearly every show for bar gigs. Most places would not let you play unless you took $300 worth of tickets and came back and paid them $300 bux pre show. They didn't care if you sold them yourself or just ate the cost. Worst part about playing clubs IMHO.

That pedal looks spiff! Love the sweepable mid frequency!

Check out his 3 'must listen to records' for his fans.
You'll definitely hear where he gets his stuff, from both guitar and songwriting perspectives.

Korg went nuts this year, releasing a lot of soft and hardware likely will be remembered most of 2020 NAMM. I really liked this reverb vid. , sort of documentary-like.

OVERLOUD TH-U just keeps getting better with the new "Kemper"ish type thing thy have now. They can release these great tone packs that sound amazing. As you all know I've been a HUGE fan since I first discovered it and swapped it for my previous fave IK MULTMEDIA GUITAR RIG PRO (The sim not the tab software). I"ve tried em all and Guitar Pro was the best of the best imho until I found OVERLOUD. It's feature set and pure tone was simply the best I've ever heard. I'm still waiting for the iPhone App and or a pedal or something but til then it's still my fave. I've converted a few folks along the way and I should get a royalty payment from OVERLOUD IMHO!!! smile.gif

I've noticed our own PHILL66 has jumped on to THU and I must say Phills tones have never sounded better. The Helix is a fine Unit to be sure, which Phill has been using, but I must say I like his Overloud Tones better. They just sound more natural.

I"ll probably never own all the boutique italian amps THU has but I don't need to smile.gif

Another vid on some "Live" type sounds. I think we are going to be seeing more live uses of THU.
P.S I recently heard KEMPER finally released a software editor!! It's about freaking time IMHO. But I'm glad they did it. I have come to really love using a software interface for making patches. I just despise scrolling through menus like on my ancient digitech units.

The coolest thing about the EVO box imho is that it lets you record computer audio while recording input audio. This is God's Gift to podcasters. One little box can take the place of the audio engtineer that many podcasters used to have sitting there doing punch ins with an actual small outboard mixing console for live recorded podcasts. It also will run on computer host or mobile phone which all interfaces soon will be able to do imho as more and more people are using a mobile device of some kind (tablet/phone) as the center of their podcast production. Gone are the days when it required a full computer to do a podcast. These days, a fairly new Ipad can get the job done just fine. A couple of mics, one of these and bam. Your in production.

HOTONE is putting out a new version of the AMPERO at NAMM. It's got only 3 stomp buttons instead of four and no XLR output. It's also cheaper than the regular ampero but has the same features/engine/color touch screen.
I've got the AMPERO and it honestly sounds better than my 11 RACK. The only reason I keep my 11 rack is to run my custom built MYASNIKOV Tube Preamp (X88R Soldano clone) through the FX Loops. It sounds better than any of the built in amp heads on the 11 rack which is saying a lot as all the built in heads sound pretty darn good. The all tube myasnikov preamp just sounds better.

However, toting around the big rack is just a pain in the neck. I can take the AMPERO and have all my sounds and a wah pedal in one little unit and run straight to the board. I have yet to heard a unit that size, anywhere near the same price point. Also, the Ampero still has the color touch screen which only the HEADRUSH can say it has one as well. In this day and age, there's just no excuse for not having a color touch screen imho, on any such device. It's just cheaping out not to have one. Especially on devices that cost over a grand.

The NEURAL DSP box thats new at NAMM looks great, but the cost is INSANE and I can't honestly say it sounds any bettter than my Ampero. The Neural DSP has a color touch screen but it's four times the price. Does it sound four times better? I don't think so and it's got no wah/volume!!

Here are some metal sounds with the quad cortex and I'm just not that impressed.

here is a quick djenty sound I made on the ampero

Now that OVERLOUD has the "KEMPER"ISH thing going. It's hard to beat in terms of plugins. It was already way ahead of any other plugin I'd ever tried. Now you can load any pricey rig you like in one click. Long time fan and now a fan for life.

LINE 6 POD GO

Jumping on the smaller is better bandwagon, Line 6 have made a sort of "BABY HELIX". Its a bit less flexible in terms of signal path, has a few fewere models of this and that, but still has 4 in 4 out, and most of the same bits that make the helix such a fine bit of kit. The good news is that all this is going to be a bit more affordable than the helix line so havingn a full on pedal board with wads of features and a color screen, interface, wah controller, is well within reach of folks who may not have been down for springing for a helix. I look forward to trying one!

I think that it's a clever decision to design an easier to use version. All these guitar multifx and amp sims are becoming more and more advanced while there is many people that only want to turn on it and play.

I like to have many options and versatility but I can see a market for this stuff, even if it's cheaper.

Agreed smile.gif This thing sounds a lot like the helix, but is a lot easier to use, much like the old POD series was just easy to use. Folks could just plug in and play. Sure, one can edit presets if one wants to, but not everybody wants to. Some folks hate editing presets.
