Thank you for your comments at the REC forum... I'll have to keep on working on that one!!
As soon as I focus on a specific point, I have the impression that I loose the progresses made somewhere else...
Anyway, your explanations are very detailed and help a lot!

Hi Gab

I hope you are doing well!
I'm still trying to polish the GaryClarkJR lesson... thing I post my REC video to early... I'll soon post another try here...

Meanwhile, I keep on working on the Basic Blues Shuffle. Here it is at 80 bpm...

What do you think? I'll try to slowly increase speed...

have a nice day!

Hi Gab,

I hope you are doing well!
While I keep practicing on "musical" lessons (Gary Clark Jr, Basic Blues), I also practice the bending lesson and the hammer-on/pull off lesson you recommended...
Here is the first part of the hammer-on/pull off lesson at 100 bpm...

What do you think?
The second part is somewhat trickier and will need more time....
Later this week, I will post my attempts at the bending lesson...

have a nice day!

Laurent

Thanks Gab for your comments... You are right about my left hand: fingers are far from the fretboard so I can have strength for the hammer... Obviously, it needs improving!!

Hi Gab

I am sorry for missing your birthday! I didn't connect to GMC the last few days, as I am currently unable to play guitar: my right forefinger is swollen for an unknown reason, and I can hardly bend it. I'll see the doctor today, and hopefully, he will suggest some actions!

have a nice day,
Laurent

Hi Laurent! Thanks for your birthday greeting! smile.gif

I'm sorry to hear about your finger. Please take care of it. Don't play guitar until it's recovery. In the meantime, you could get into some theory, harmony, or similar stuff... what do you think?

Hi Gab,

it's been a while since I last came here.... I hope you are doing well!
Even if I didn't post anything, I've been working... I promise!

I shot two videos this evening... The first is the Darius' Beginner Bending Lesson, at 90 bpm...
As you will see/hear, it's still need practicing at this speed before I can try to reach the original speed...

The second video is the Claudio's Basic Rock Guitar: Blues Shuffle, also at 90 bpm...

What do you think?

Have a nice day!
Laurent

Good job! This lesson is great to train your bending technique. I can say that you are playing most of those bends tight, you are reaching the right pitches. The problem appears with the double stop bends which are obviously more difficult. I think that you can continue practicing at this tempo, but that you also need to isolate the trickier bends and work on them as exercises.

There are also some timing issues in the second half of the lesson, but I think that they will disappear as soon as you become more comfortable with the trickier bends.

One question, Is that a fixed bridge guitar or it's a floating one?

Cool! Your shuffle playing is precise here. I think that you need to continue practicing this one until you feel comfortable and you don't need to be so concentrated on the rhythm and notes, and you can start feeling the groove. The idea is to make the rhythm sound with more groove and dynamics.

Finally, it seems that your 3rd or 2nd string is not well tuned because it D chord is not sounding good. Always remember to check your tuning before recording.

Thank you Gab for your comments. I will try to focus on the most difficult parts!

I think it is a floating one: the tremolo bar has been removed and is in the case. It's a guitar that has been lended to me while I dismount my tele in order to redo the finishing and setup up the fretboard properly (which I never actually did ohmy.gif ).

Ah ok, so maybe that's the reason why the double stop bending sounds out of pitch. I suffer similar issues with my floating bridge guitars.

Practice is enough, but well, that bridge makes things harder if the guitar is not correctly set up.
