Amen to that! Great game selection too.

Posted by: Fran Jun 2 2009, 05:34 PM

Wow, that was impressive.

Maybe this will finally lead to a GOOD star wars light sabre simulation game?

Posted by: TreyDeschamp Jun 2 2009, 05:35 PM

Amen!

But Playstation 2 had the exact technology, within PS2 abilities surely, it was named Eye Toy, it was without voice recognation but It was good anyway. Not a brilliant idea, but it is sure that microsoft did this as it should be. And backed it up with great software...

Very interesting indeed. It will be interesting to see what new tech the others come up with in response. Competition is only a good thing smile.gif

Is this for real? huh.gif

I was about to buy a new console, but I think I will think my choice twice now... tongue.gif

This is great! I hope it will be fast and precise enough as we see it in the trailers smile.gif

Posted by: blindwillie Jun 3 2009, 06:53 AM

Wow! that was exciting!

Posted by: Azzaboi Jun 3 2009, 07:23 AM

It's a product vision, actual features and functionality maybe different, but looks wicked!

Posted by: superize Jun 3 2009, 07:52 AM

This looks really cool.....

Posted by: AlexLion Jun 3 2009, 08:02 AM

Haha I think it will be much fun to play that kind of games! But from sideview people playing those look like a complete idiots laugh.gif

Awesome!!!

i was in awe when i first saw the movies..

but after the initial wow factor falls a bit, i started to think a bit about it.. and there is no way that milo is "talking" to the woman.. no chance at all.. i just dont believe that it's possible for a computer character to randomly put together words to create a sentence and then speak them out loud.. he's totally scripted all the way through with pre-recorded voice.

So that more or less only leaves us with the womans reflection in the water and her ability to tough it.. She does give him a piece of paper, but we never see whats on it, so while i may be true, it could very well be as fake as the scripted kid..

And the fact that Peter Moleux or whats his name, have said that they played around with it a "couple of months", just says is all..

Then there is the scanning of the skateboard.. sure it can recognize the kids hands and automatically edit them out and find out whats behind them.. easy.. well, while it may take a bit more than that to do that i am sure it's possible to scan the skateboard.

the rest seems plausible, although i cant see myself "pretending" to drive a car.. although i've read that it seems to work really well and doesn't seem weird.. only time will tell..

It is pretty exciting though..

I seem to be the only one who would refuse to play a game like that, Not only would it annoy me I think it would be a serious decrease in the fun factor. But I agree with -Zion-, Hes not actually talking the woman, generating his own repsonses, That implies an A.I. or computer progam of sorts capable of recognizing questions and responding correctly and independently, Which I doubt that it is, I dont see how that kind of technology is at the point where microsoft could make it an "in-home natural thing". When giant companies like honda and sony make those artificial A.I.'s that can only respond limitedly to questions. I believe the voice recognizition, thats nothing new, and seeing yourself in water, That seems easy to do as well with todays tech. But what she says, Is scripted 100% I believe. And the piece of paper, since we never see whats on it, Im calling it scripted again. Just pre-programes sequence of events that play out when the player acts and speaks accordingly.

Lastly, i wont buy a game where I play with that milo kid laugh.gif

its not impossible....the idea is simple. getting the idea to work is the hard part

project natal has a facial sensor,

it can sense facial expressions, probably has a program with basic default expressions that it senses, same thing the the voice, so that milo can understand, and the program that is milo generates what to say...

its not impossible, and it isnt scripted smile.gif there are demos of people using it during E3 out there, check it out.

Posted by: audiopaal Jun 9 2009, 06:10 PM

Well, at least they made a game the other platforms haven't made yet...
But I'm pretty sure this can be done on a PS3 as well smile.gif

I'm probably gonna get both eventually, 'cause neither blows the other out of the water wink.gif

Oh, and my WII is just as good as the other two tongue.gif

I'm not saying its impossible, But I think its made to be more than it is. I can't tell Milo that the Nazi's are coming via a interstellar rocket ship to steal his house and expect an aswer. Maybe scripted is a bit too strict, I shouldnt have used that word, Milos answers are just limited, and they make it out to more than It is I think.

EDIT

Also, I believe the facial expression recogniztion. The concept is easy enough. I dont mean to downplay what they have accomplished, it is indeed a massive feat by any standards. But the second video makes this technology seem messianic or something, Which to me it really isnt.

But yes, It is an impressive jump in game tech.

Impressive.. This could be extremely good, if it's used in the right way.

I agree with what you're saying about the Milo kid. It's gotta be "staged", so to speak. I suspect she's following a script that triggers some keywords that Milo recognizes. They could make it work if they expand the program continously and update him via the web in the background all the time.

This looks very impressive but I am very afraid of where it all might lead and the actual outcome. I would prefer kids to go to arts schools visit galleries and do some real painting then to stay home and do the virtual thing. The same goes for playing sports or anything else that is doable in reality. I can understand playing action games with guns and smash driving games, but arts related games I certainly don't support with this type of interface smile.gif

Very impressive

Now they should sort their hardware out - ive had to send my xbox 360 off for repairs no less than 4 times!

Maybe its because i play it too much to be fair lol
