Small Picking Motion

I was just going through one of Kris' lessons on speedpicking and he points out 4 things, one is strict alternate picing, 2 is pick angle, 3 is picking accents and the fourth is small picking motion. 3 of them i'm totally happy with but the fourth i'm not sure about. First of all i don't even know what would be considered as a small picking motion so for all i know i'm doing it already but how can i make sure i'm doing this? I see the benefit in it but i'm not sure ow i can make sure i have a small picking motion and if i don't have one how can i practice to make sure i do get a small picking motion?
