Ive been working odd jobs and skipping meals with cigarettes when i could to save up for my next guitar; the one I'm going to carry with me on stage. I'm sure ya'll can empathize.
Its been a labor of love and at times I feel like a monk giving up worldy comforts to achieve nirvana (and what inspires inner peace better than a new guitar?) but since I can only afford the one guitar, I'd like it to be versatile.
I'm one of those guys that likes to dip my hand in every jar, and so I love playing a little of everything. Though lately I notice I like playing the blues, funk, flamenco and early rock n roll a whole lot (with an interest in jazz growing exponentially by the day). I've been asking around about a guitar that can handle my gamut of musical tastes, and everyone gives me a different answer.
The guy at music store 1 says I should get a Les paul
The lady at music store 2 swears by 335's
The internet says Strats
A different forum says Teles?
It just seems like folks are trying to push their sales agendas on me, and I dont know who to believe. I was wondering if any of you could shed some light on my situation?
I appreciate any and all input, and it'll be paid back in forum karma.
