Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi man. You've got the basics right !

The rhythm is good and so is your hand co ordination.

There's a few errors to address.

-Unwanted extra strings, like at 0:08, 0:24
-Incoherent notes like at 0:28. This part is quite difficult because you need to slide with your little finger and then pull off. Isolate this lick if it's a problem area for you and work on it at a slower speed until you feel comfortable working it into the piece.

The ending needs to be tightened up as well.

Hey buddy!

I like your groove and your tone! These are very important elements in this kind of playing, but Ben spotted all the important details that can make this take really shine. I suggest you to slow things down and incorporate all that Ben has mentioned and then bring everything up to speed, focusing on keeping a keen eye and ear on these changes you have brought to the take. Since you like this sort of playing, I would also recommend these lessons for you:

Keep rocking!

Hi mate! Good job with this lesson.

The lesson sounds well, and there are just some very little extra noises and timing issue to fix. Once you fix them, the next step would be to give more expression to your playing. This is a rhythm blues lesson based on the amazing style of SRV. So there are two important things that you should focus to take this one to a new level:

- Dynamics
- Groove

Both things can be achieved putting all your effort and concentration in feeling what you are playing, with your whole body and mind, move with the groove, play more aggressive and software depending on what the drums are doing, give more life, humanize it. While doing this, more extra noises and timing issue will appear but the take will sound more organic. Then, with practice, you'll be able to play it with precision again.

Give it a try and let me know when you have a new take!

Keep on rocking & bluesing. cool.gif
