Hey man,

Just got my first chance to get back on here and check things out since I got back from Paris over the weekend.

Have to say I'm very impressed with all three videos!

You certainly appear more relaxed and comfortable while playing, and your timing is getting pretty damn tight too.

The "move your little finger" take was very nice and clean, sounds like you have that tempo pretty much nailed in my opinion, time to crank it up smile.gif Picking looks good, sounds great, nice work!

You're certainly right about the great techniques in these video lessons, and they already look like they're giving you some great experience with them.

It's great to see such big progress Craig, really looking forward to seeing your future takes smile.gif

Nice to hear man! Yes sorry I've been very very busy as of late, jumping in as often as I can though smile.gif

Looking forward to seeing your progress as always smile.gif Good luck with the 80bpm take. I've been learning this lesson too and its great fun, and an excellent little finger workout. At first glance I was thinking it looked more like an index finger work out but having given it a go, definitely a pinky work out!! smile.gif

Hey there man, again as always, apologies for the delay smile.gif Adam is now on the hunt for a job and has been very busy as of late.

Was really looking forward to seeing these two takes and see how things are going but for some reason the two downloads don't seem to work.. I get a message saying "Doesn't include valid URL".

I shall try on another computer, but if you could let me know if these links work for you?

Hope all is well mate, and that my recent AWOL is forgiven smile.gif

Rock on!

Sorted it out mate smile.gif Got both the links working.

To say im impressed and pleased with your progress is an understatement, you've really made some significant progress and it definitely shows mate. The new guitar has obviously been treated very well and has inspired some decent practice time by the looks of things!

I don't really have a lot to add, I'm sure you'll see that in the REC program with the tutors critque's.

There are some slight timing issues, but I really wouldn't worry too much about this. The more you practice, the more you play, the more you listen and self analyise the more you will start to pick up on the timing and sound in your playing.

Very well done mate, keep it up!!

Bondy,
I'm also in the mentor program with Adam... so I like to see what everybody is working on. I really like the sound/tone of your guitar, it sounds great. What are you running it through, if you don't mind my asking? cool.gif

Hey man,

Glad to see your still getting stuck in with learning, and great you're taking more lessons on board! Its the fastest way to improve I think, keeping things fresh and new and learning what excites you or pleases your ear.

The Harmonic minor lesson you uploaded (the first take you submited since I last spoke to you) is pretty good man. You got a good sound coming out of your gear and it sounds like you're having little problems with it.

The two things I could hear that may need a bit of attention are the timing, and I was interested to hear what you had to say in relation to how hard you fret the strings for certain bits.

The timing on this kind of backing track can be confusing I guess because there isn't a strict metronome drum beat that you can easily follow. Possibly try playing it without the backing track, but with a metronome playing and see if you can play it that way a few times. Then switch of the metronome and attempt with the backing to see if the timing issues are still present.

Next is less of advice and more of a questions really, so here goes!

Generally speaking, how hard do you think you're fretting the notes? (i.e. pushing down on to the strings with your fingertips.)

I only ask because occasional sharp notes (I think caused by excessive pressure on the fretted note) could be due to this.

I know its not easy to describe how hard you're playing, but the best way I can advise you on trying to work it out, would be to try playing with as little force pushing down on to the fretboard as possible, and then compare it to how you normally play.

One thing to note when speeding anything up is that it should feel "lighter" to play, never "harder". If thats the case you're tensing your muscles too much and that will result in more fatigue and less accuracy.

Let me know what your thoughts are on this smile.gif

Looking at your progress on the unexpected chords lesson, its clear you're making good progress biggrin.gif

I'd advise to spend a good amount of time with those alternate picked fast parts as those seem the least clean at the moment, but still really good progress.

Keep up the good work mate, and congratulations on the REC takes recently smile.gif
