Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Bb Minor Phrasing -Beginner by Muris Varajic

Great intro to B flat Minor. Easy to play. Something about Muris's vibrato & how smoothly he does it ... very difficult to emulate. Practice, practice, practice I guess!

Mate, I think you nailed it biggrin.gif Congrats! And yes, the answer is practicing just to get more and more intimate with the piece itself!

I think you did this one excellent. Very smooth tone, and good approach to the notes when doing a vibrato, very natural. Your vibrato is sounding natural, but still needs to be a bit more even/controlled. Almost all the notes came out good, so I'll give this a very strong 9.

Perfect ! I prefer your tone to the original as well smile.gif

One suggestion from me is to avoid using upward vibrato once you get onto the lower strings like G and D. Check out around 0:15 to see what I'm referring to. These strings really call for you to direct your vibrato either down, sideways or circular.

Other than that, I've nothing to add, your playing is absolutely excellent. cool.gif

I love your tone man! smile.gif
The take is excellent for me... in the future you could work a bit more on your vibrato technique but you are on the right track! keep on working!

I don't often (ever) grade REC takes, but I have worked on this solo myself and understand the subtlety of it wink.gif I have to compliment you on the clean way you played the notes and captured the feel. Like all of Muris' lessons, this sounds deceptively simple but the complexity is as always in the phrasing. I think you captured the spirit of the piece excellently, and I can only find slight fault with the subtleties of the vibrato, which can take a lifetime to master. A solid 9 for me.
